The flames of the candles littering Obi Wan's quarters danced in the golden morning light seeping through the windows. You sat on the floor next to Obi Wan, cross legged, attempting to let the warm glow of peace lull you into a trance. But try as you might, tranquility eluded you.

You had tried everything you could to settle into the calm morning, inhaling the sweet sandalwood incense, letting your energy flow through you, attempting every breathing technique imaginable. All to no avail.

Tentatively, you opened your eyes and turned your gaze over to your partner. You let your eyes take in the way the sunlight draped over Obi Wan's shirtless physique, bathing him in a golden sheen. Transfixed, you admired the way it glistened in his auburn hair and shown across his relaxed features. He sat with his muscular legs crossed over one another and his hands atop them, resting palm upwards. The only sound besides the faint chirping of birds outside the window was the steady rhythm of his breathing.

How could he do it so effortlessly? You asked yourself, envying his abilities. And why couldn't you slip into such a meditation? Everything was as it should be, calming and peaceful, the perfect environment. So why couldn't you focus? You gaze drifted back over to Obi Wan, gliding down his toned torso. Oh. you thought. Maybe there was a good reason.

"It's rude to stare." Obi wan said, his voice wafting through the soothing quite, his eyes still closed as if he had not uttered a word.

"Sorry," You told him, keeping your voice barely above a whisper, afraid to fill the silence. However, your eyes remained unabashedly on his bare chest. "I'm having a bit of a rough time concentrating," A soft smirk appeared on his serine face.

"Is that so?" He asked, finally opening his brilliant blue eyes, a perfect compliment to the honey colored atmosphere engulfing the room. "What might the trouble be?" You scoffed at his comment, as if he didn't know.

"Well you see, my meditation partner is this ridiculously good looking Jedi, so he is rather distracting."

"Oh really?"

You nodded in response. "As much as I would like to pin the entire problem on him, I'm afraid it's mostly my fault. Too much on my mind I suppose."

His eyes lingered on you, his mind rolling over all the possible ways to help you. The embers of an idea flashed across his face as he brought his hand up to casually stroke his beard.

"Come here." He said reassuringly, gesturing to his lap. "I have an idea."

You cast him a sideways glance as you shifted closer towards him. "Is this an idea that I'm going to like?" You asked, seating yourself in his lap, letting your legs straddle his waist and your hands glide over his bare shoulders.

"Not to worry, I think you will enjoy it immensely." His large hands placed themselves on your hips, helping to press your body closer to his. You took a brief moment to run your hands up and down the expanse of his chest, reveling in the feeling of his warm skin underneath your fingertips.

"Comfy?" He teased.

You could feel a heat begin to bloom across your face. "Very much so!" Obi chuckled at your statement.

With a deep breath, he said,"What I want you to do is very simple." You could feel the vibrations of his deep voice through your hands, the softness of it not unlike a sweet melody as it reached your ears. You were once again lost in a sea of your thoughts, but Obi Wan pulled you out by gently taking your hand in his, placing it right above his heart. "Close your eyes." You did as he said. "Feel the beating of my heart, the rise and fall of my chest as I breathe. Find the pattern."

You let yourself be whisked away by the beating heart of the man you loved, feeling its steady rhythm under your fingertips and concentrating all your energy on it. The atmosphere led you into a serene trance, the smell of the incense smoke swirling around you, the feeling of the warm sunlight, dancing through the windows and warming your face, the sense of security that you felt being held in Obi Wan's arms. "Now." His voice joined in with the peaceful party. "Match your breathing with mine." So you did. Slow breaths, in through the nose, out through the mouth. Over and over again, holding tight to Obi Wan, using him as a tether to reality.

Time was lost to you. You had no idea how long you had been in your lover's intoxicating arms, but you were brought back to life by the feeling of soft lips moving against yours. You smiled into the kiss, not yet opening your eyes as you brought your hands to his cheeks, stroking your fingers through the coarse hair of his beard.

After an eternity, you opened your eyes, blinking the sunlight out of your temporarily blinded gaze.

"Well, it seems my technique had the desired effect." You grinned, letting your fingers stroke through his golden locks.

"Mhh, I think we should try this technique more often." You told him before placing another sweet kiss upon his lips.
