Tracks

The day was cold as

I walk along the old train tracks

as the autumn breeze blows against my back.

Each leave that falls from the surround trees

crunches will a satisfying ease

as I walk along, stifling a sneeze.

The old train tracks began to shake

and my knees began to quake.

I heard the sound of a nearby train

as one thought flowed through my brain.

Run.

I tried to flee

but I was frozen to my spot

and couldn't break free.

As the train drew closer

I closed my eyes

and knew I was about to cross over.

All at once everything happened.

My body moved to keep me from getting flattened.

The train rumbled by as I lay on the ground.

Soon it passed and there was not a sound.

That was the last time I ever went to the old train tracks.
