Chapter 23: The accident

Spencers P.O.V
I awoke to what I was guessing as the late mornings sun pouring in from the outside.
It was so hard to breathe because of the smoldering, thick air that was in the room. 
I sighed rolling over to brush my fingers gently across Dereks chest.  I seen him smile. "Hey baby. " he whispered groggily. 
"Hey." I smile and lean in to kiss him tenderly on the lips. 
He pulls away and sighs aloud.  "It is so fucking hot in here." He said.
I chuckled.  "Well get used to it babe because we live in a place where it will never, ever snow. " I smile.
"instead of staying cooped up inside today. Why don't we go to the beach? " He smiled. 
I frowned.  "I don't know. " I said.
Derek seemed confused.  "I dont understand.  Why not? " he asks. 
I shrugged. "I hate the beach. I always have." I say.
Derek groaned. 
"I'm sorry. " I say. 
Derek sighed but smiled.  "No. Its alright." He says.
"Hey. I forgot to mention that Garcia invited us to her Halloween party next Thursday. " Derek smiled kissing my shoulder. 
"Really? " I ask.
"Yeah." He nods.
"I dont remember her asking me." I say. 
Derek chuckles and leans in and whispered "that is because you were so hammered You didn't even know what Was going on." He smiled and leaned in to kiss me as I was laughing. 
"Come on. We'll go to Walmart or Target or something. " he says. 
"Its so far. " I groan.
"C'mon Spencer Halloween is your favorite holiday. " he says.
I shrugged.  "I know but im so comfy. " I whine.
"Dont make me tickle you." He says.
I gasped "you wouldn't dare." I smiled. 
"Oh but I do dare because im a daring bastard. " He says and tickles me hard. I burst into a fit. "Okay!  Okay! Im up im up!" I cry.
"Good now get dressed Ill be down stairs waiting." He smiled. 
"Okay. " I say.
He leaves and I throw on a tank top and shorts and brush my hair before hurrying down the stairs. 
"Ready? " he asked.  I nod.
"Can I drive?" I ask.
Derek smiles and throws me over the keys.  "Alright boy genuis." He smiled. 
We both start off talking and giggling but than it happened. 
"SPENCER WATCH OUT" Derek screams.
I look over to see a car sputtering out of control right by my end.
I than screamed because it came smashing into the side and everything was black. 
Dereks P.O.V
I sat there stunned. I couldnt move. I tried to scream but no sound would come out.
All I could hear were the sirens in the distance and my own breathing. 
I slowly looked at Spencer with caution. 
My heart stopped as I seen him cut with shards of glass digging into his flesh. 
"Oh my god Spencer! " I cried. 
I struggled frantically at my seat belt and finally got free.
I dragged Spencers head lightly on my knees.
"Spencer baby wake up." I sob.
He didn't awnser.  "Spencer please wake up. Do not die on me! Do you hear me dont you dare die!" I freak. 
Still no answer. 
It was than I realised he wasn't breathing and screamed as loud as my lungs would allow me and said every curse ever said because I knew he wasnt going to wake up.
