[Niall]
It's been 2 days since I last saw Erynn. After I made sure that her dad was with the police, her sister and I hopped in the ambulance that held her unconscious body and we sped off to the nearest hospital. On the way there, her sister asked who I was and introduced herself. Just in the one short car ride I could tell how much she cared for Erynn.
We were forced to move aside and sit in the empty waiting rooms so that the paramedics could try to reverse the effects of all the blood Erynn had lost and stich up the cut. Emma was sat next to me, tears streaming down her face while she dragged her fingers through her ginger locks of hair which reminded me so much of the girl lying unconscious in this building. I tried my best comforting her but in all honesty I wasn't in the best shape to do that. After awhile her sobs became silent tears which slowly stopped flowing until she was just sitting there with a hollow expression on her face. She turned to face me cautiously, "Umm...thanks for helping Erynn, well both of us."
I gave her a small smile, "Your welcome."
Emma stared at me, her eyes squinting as if she was trying to figure out something. I ignored her and focused on Erynn. It scared me how pale and frail she looked lying on the stretcher in the hands of all the other paramedics. My eyes watered but I quickly blinked it away. I needed to be strong for Emma and Erynn. They needed me.
We sat outside in the waiting room together for 2 hours before a doctor came out asking if I was here for Erynn. I nodded impatiently.
"Erynn's lost a lot of blood and we'll need to keep her here to monitor her recovery. Some of the wounds have gone deep in and cut very important tissues. There is also a huge bruise on her back that has swelled in size and I imagine pains her. We're not completely sure if everything will be successful but we'll try our best. There are wounds from weeks ago. "
Beside me I could see Emma start shaking and I pulled her into a hug. She gripped onto me tightly. It sort of hurt but I wasn't going to say anything. I pulled away but kept her close to me and squeezed her hand for reassurance.
"Do you know who will be covering her fees because sadly we cannot continue unless the costs are being paid for. " He continued.
"I am, I'll cover the full costs." I immediately said. He raised his eyebrow doubtingly.
"And who exactly are you?"
"Her friend."
He sighed and went to bring me some forms to fill out. Emma turned to look up into my eyes.
"Thank you, Niall."
"No problem, kiddo." I flashed her a smile that I hoped made her believe everything would be alright.
After I filled out everything they let us go to her room. I wrinkled my nose at the scent of the stale hospital air, rubber and antiseptic, as I walked down the white hallways.
We hastily made our way into the room we'd been told and I could hear Emma gasp as she took in the sight before us.
Erynn lay on the bed so still, if it wasn't for the slight subtle rise and fall of her chest I might've thought she wasn't okay. A whole bunch of wires and tubes were hooked up to her. Her skin was so sickly white and pale it resembled the sheets she was lying in. In her hospital gown, her bare arms were revealed and they showed blue and purple bruises from earlier days only made more vibrant by the loss of color in her skin. The eerie beeping of the machine that tells you her heartbeat filled the room.
I pulled two chairs to the side of the bed and collapsed into one, staring at Erynn for any sign of movement. Emma copied my actions and scooted closer to the bed, carefully taking one of Erynn's hands in her own.
