𝑐ℎ𝑎𝑝𝑡𝑒𝑟 5. || 𝑀𝑖𝑠𝑡𝑎𝑘𝑒

What felt like forever soon ended. We pulled apart after a while and stared at each other.

"Wow" he said, his breath heavy.

"Yeah.." I said gulping slightly after. I can't believe that just happened.

He spoke softly "Look it's late and we have class in the morning. I'll see you tomorrow" and with that he was gone.

I stood there in the common room a bit taken a back. Why would he just leave? I ended up walking to where the box was.

He said it was for me so I picked it up and headed back to my dorm.

When I got there I decided to just go back to sleep and open it tomorrow. But, one thing was still on my mind.

The kiss. And why would he just leave right after? It's kinda strange. I usually over think situation.

Was it bad? Did I do something wrong? Ugh so many thoughts were rushing through my head.

I tried to clear everything and needed drifting off to sleep.

I awoke to the sun shining in through the stain glassed window. I sat up and rubbed my eyes adjusting to the bright light.

I sighed and got out of bed and changed into my uniform and slipped in my (y/h) robe.

I scurried down to the common room and out to the Great Hall. I normally don't eat breakfast but i decided I would.

After I got my breakfast I tried to find somewhere to sit. Everyone looked occupied with each other.

I scanned the room, maybe Newt's here. But, I didn't see him. I then heard someone call out.

"Hey You!" the voice said. I wasn't sure who they were talking to so I just looked over.

I saw a girl with chocolate brown curly hair. Damn she's pretty. I see her wave me down and I walk towards her.

"Hey I'm Leta Lestrange!" she spoke. "Come, sit next to me"

I sat down at the empty seat next to her and spoke softly, "I'm (y/n) (l/n)."

"Well (y/n), it's nice to meet ya!" she said with a smile. Why is she being so nice? She doesn't even know me.

"Nice to meet you as well" I said.

"So, I noticed you and the Newt kid are really close huh?" she said. I choked on my drink trying to keep my composure.

"Oh yeah. You could say that. I've only met him this year but we have gotten pretty close" I said.

She tilts her to the side and crosses her arms. "You fancy him, don't you?" she said with a smirk.

My eyes go wide, how does she know? Can she read my mind or something? I panic.

"Well, I guess. Maybe a little." I said. She raised her eyebrow as to suggest she knows i'm lying.

I give in and sigh. "Yeah I do, a lot actually. It's been a good 2 months since I've liked him." I say with a small smile.

"I knew it!" she snapped back. "Here's what's gonna happen, you're going to go to the Ball with him and I'm going to help you" she said.

Even though I don't know her I feel like I can trust her. Almost as if we're friends.

I clear my throat "Uhm, were actually already going together. But, as friends." I said looking down.

She gasps, kinda loud actually "JUST FRIENDS?!" she said. I covered her mouth and notice people looking over at us.

"Sorry heh" she said turning a light shade of pink.

"It's alright, but yeah just friends" I said kinda disappointed. I wanted to go with him as more than just friends.

"We can change that" she spoke with a smirk appearing across her face.

"What do you mean by that?" I asked curiously.

"I bet he likes you too. It's kinda obvious the way he looks at you in class." She said. My cheek turns a light shade of pink.

Does he really like me? I thought. Maybe he doesn't and she's just saying that to make me feel better.

"So will you go along with my plan, I'll tell you more about it later since class is about to start" she said.

"Uhm, yeah! I'm in" I said smiling. No one has ever been so nice to me except Newt. Maybe she could be my friend.

"Great! We'll meet up later" she said. And with that she got up and left to class.

I got up as well and headed to Potions which was my first class for that day.

In potions we made something called "Liquid Luck"
It was actually cool I guess. I ended up getting mine right before anyone else and got to keep a small vile of it.

I headed out of class and decided to go to the common room since I only had one class Friday.

Before I could make it there I felt a hand grab a hold of my wrist. I turn around to the figure behind me and notice it's Newt. Oh fuck.

"Hey uhm, I don't know but. It seems like you've been avoiding me today. Is everything okay?" he said with a rather worrying expression.

"Oh yeah, I'm fine" is all I could say. But inside I was freaking out.

He looked around and pulled me with him to an empty hallway that no one really goes to.

I looked up at his blue eyes and gave him a confused look.

"So why are we here for?" I asked curiously. Having no idea what's going on.

"Look, what happened yesterday was a mistake. It wasn't meant to happen. I'm sorry." he said

With those words I felt my life crumble underneath me. My heart dropped and felt like it broke into a million pieces that couldn't be put back together.

"I uh...yeah i'm sorry too." Is all I could say.

He nodded and said "Well I better going see ya later."

I just stood there watching the love of my life walk away. Why am I so stupid. I should've listened to my mother.

Boys are nothing but trouble she would tell me. I knew boys would be a distraction this year but I didn't care.

When I first saw him I fell in love. Which is odd for me since I never really fancied anyone before.

I ended up slowly walking back to the (y/h) common room. Once I reached it I got inside and hurried up to my dorm.

No one was in there thank Merlin. I closed the door and locked it. I laid on my bed and just cried.

"It was a mistake" is all I could think of. I turned my head to my bedside table and notice the package.

I never got to open it. I sat up and grabbed it placing it in front of my on the bed.

I slowly undid the ribbon bow and carefully opened the lid.
