"I"M GOING TO KILL THIS PEN!" I screamed at my old Mickey Mouse ballpoint, throwing it half way accross the studio to land perfectly on the snare drum of Rian's kit.
I had never writen a song with any other pen but though I'd put new ink in it it had just placed it's last full stop. I felt something cold slide over the top of my ear and a warm kiss was softly planted on my cheek. I took the pen from behind my ear and gazed at it for a few seconds before whispering;
"You didn't."
"I did," Jack whispered back, a smile spreading accross his lips.
There, engraved on a woodland brown (the colour of Jacks eyes), ballpoint pen was the word "Jalex" and a little outline off Mickey Mouse's head.
"I love it!" I squealed as he leaned down and embraced me from behind the chair I was on.
I wrote Something's Gotta Give with that pen right there and then as his arms grew ever tighter around my torso.
The song, though not about him, had it's subtle hints of Jack. The line "I'm a cliche in a song" was so perfect for the situation.
I've always loved cliches and now I had my perfect one.
