Test of Time

(Violet's Pov)

-Five Months Later-

I was working in the greenhouse with Ruby and Clementine, I was grabbing the tomatoes and looking at them some rotted but we still took the seeds since it would grow new plants, only way I knew this was when my grandmother had a garden with all types of vegetables. I looked over to Clem as she wiped the sweat off her face and I come over to her and kiss her neck a bit and held her waist.

"Hey get the cucumbers." She tells me and I chuckled a bit.

"Come on just a little fun is all." I say and she turned to look to me and I smiled at her then looked around when I hear the kids scream. Out of fear we ran out just to see that they were playing tag and I held placed my hand on my chest and sighed as did Ruby.

"You think we should teach them how to shoot?" I asked her as we went back to work, and she nods a bit.

"Yea but I'd like to be careful that's all... especially with them being so young and Joan still being out there." She says and I nod as I think on this.

"She acts like it's a game but it's not." I say as I helped her with the rest of the food. We then helped Clem with the berries that we had planted, and I grabbed Clem's bag and we all headed in the house. Ruby got to work on cleaning the food and I went out and I looked at the kids as they played in the yard with AJ and Willy. Just looking at them made me remember that they are still kids but also adults in the same way. They all have to grow up so fast in this world it's no joke, and after what had happened when I found out in the last few months, I hate the people that wanted to ok this type of stuff.

"Hey... you good?" I hear and looked up to see Louis and I think a bit as I looked to the kids.

"How the hell could people think that a child growing up in this world, in this environment was ok?" I asked and look to him and he looked back to me.

"People are crazy, stupid, the list can go on and on you know." He says and I nod at this. I looked at the kids and I rubbed my arm a bit and then I stand up and head over to AJ and Willy.

"Hey uh, AJ, Willy you two want to head out into the town to see if we can find that panel for the solar Panel?" I asked and they nod as they go and get ready. I looked around to the side and to the greenhouse I looked to Clementine as she came over to me and I kissed her cheek as she held me to her, and I chuckled a bit.

"You are taking AJ and Willy out?" She asked and I nod at this.

"It's ok right? Like I just need someone to come with me and I don't want you to come just in case." I tell her and she looked to me.

"Keep AJ and Willy safe." She tells me and I nod.

"I... I will." I say to her and she looked at me.

"I know, it's ok, I didn't mean it like that." She says.

"No, it's fine, I understand um.... I'll make sure they're ok, if anything goes south, I'll remind them that they just leave... happens a lot." I tell Clem and she looked to me sadly as she placed her hand on my cheek.

"If you don't come back before nightfall I will come and try to find you." She says and I looked to her and I nod.

"I know you will, I know." I tell her and she looked to me and I kissed her again and she smiled at me.

"We put flashlights in the bags, so you'll be good if you are in the dark." She says and I nod at this and I rubbed her back gently then I feel a pull on my pant leg, and I looked down to see Aasim Junior as he let go of my leg and I waited for him to talk.
