[Arc 1.15]

One month had passed by quickly. Within that time, the more Chris paid attention to Rose's actions to others and the remainder of Maria's words echoing in his head, the more doubtful he was of her. It also helped when other students and close friends that disliked her told him the actions she did in secret.

Maria was the epitome of reaping benefits without lifting a finger.

'Truly, one push from her, who was also a big figure, could influence others,' she thought contently.

The bar for Chris's guilt had risen from 25% to 95%. While Maria was happy with it, Shadow could only stare at it in disbelief. Even for a first mission and ranking world, this seemed too easy ah!

Multiple times he had asked her if she had purchased a hack secretly yet, the only answer he got was an amused expression before she thoroughly ignored him.

Now, she was waiting backstage for the students' part of the festival. In the stage were some important figures of the elite students' families that, if they were interested in one particular student, could recommend them and the life of riches wouldn't be far from reach.

For that very reason did nearly the whole student body participate, extending from the usual 7 a.m to 2 p.m annual festival into 7 a.m to 6 p.m.

Students backstage were either excited or nervous. But Maria, stuck out like a sore thumb as she was only waiting for her time to take place. She found out from her system that her slot was second last followed by ending the performance with Rose's, being that she was going to be acting in a play with some close friends.

[ Host... ]

'What?' She mindlessly thought as she saw the first person to go up and did a singing display.

[ What is Host going to be doing now...? ]

'I don't know.'

Shadow had the urge to beat her up then and there.

[ Host does realize that you are only placed right before Rose because she wants you to be humiliated when people see her acting? ]

'I know, I'm not an idiot,' she helplessly transmitted her thoughts before continuing, 'I still have the skill packages, don't I?'

[ If neither of them doesn't contain any necessary skills? ]

'Then I can distract them with an 'accidental' broadcast of Rose's deeds. Makes the plan effortless,' she stated bluntly.

[ Why do I feel that many people have hated you in the past, ah Host? ]

'You're not wrong there,' she quietly snickered.

Shadow could only tearlessly cry while pulling up one skill package,

[ Ding! Acquired Hypnotization, level 1! ]

'Hmm..not entirely worthless. Open the last one.'

[ Ding! Acquired Painting! Skill level 5 for it is nearly useless for Hosts! ]

[ I- Host has good luck, I see ]

Maria only chuckled quietly, looking towards the stage and realized that Alissa was next after the student on the stage.
