Even if nobody seemed to have a clue of what was happening, and others seemed to be relaxed about it, something just didn't sit right for Seokjin. It couldn't be that easy, it just made no sense for it to be. The doctor's words lingered in his head, not making any sense. How could he say that every test had been clear and normal except for the blood test - with which they found anaemia - when he clearly and very vividly remembers his youngest dongsaeng having a seizure and bleeding literally out of nowhere, when he was perfectly fine the day before.
It just didn't make sense. He could tell Yoongi and Namjoon thought the same way, yet the rest just went with it; convinced he was fine, and just needed some rest.
Some rest, even though after the tests he was deeply asleep for the rest of the day until the next one, when he woke up, he seemed way too lethargic.
They had never seen him that way. Tired, sick, sure. But it never felt this eerie. The dark circles under his eyes contrasted heavily with how pale he was.
Nothing seemed to correlate. How could they have the audacity of not finding anything when he was visibly not alright? And they had no idea as to what it could be.
Their talking didn't last long, as the lethargic boy eventually fell asleep, soothed by Hoseok's hand carding through his locks, smoothing his curls out.
It wasn't until the next day that Jimin, Hoseok and Taehyung got alarmed, and Seokjin, Yoongi and Namjoon's suspicions were confirmed; there was something serious going on. Because as they entered the room, they were met with the sight of a shivering maknae, with layers of sweat running down his pale face, a dark blush crept on his ears and cheeks, with a cold towel pressed against his forehead squishing his bangs - sign of a nurse having been there before -, and his breathing being heavy and laboured. The six hyeongs frowned and took cautious steps forward, seating themselves nearby and around the bed. None of them had the courage, until Yoongi was the one to reach out and touch his cheek as if to check how bad it really was; and his first reflex was to jerk his hand off at the heat.

"They need to keep searching, there's something going on and I have a bad feeling about it." Seokjin said, all of them nodded, yet got interrupted by the doctor entering the room.
"Sorry to interrupt you, we got some other test results. Since we couldn't get much information on localised spots, we ran full-body x-rays during your absence."
They all stared at the doctor expectantly. "The other tests were mostly clean, but we saw some things that raised some suspicions in us... and this confirmed them."
He handed them the x-ray printed image, which the leader took, and everyone else crowded around him to see. Nobody understood much, but they knew that something about it didn't sit right.

"You may want to sit down." they all looked in the doctor's direction, slowly nodding and going back to their seats. "Mr. Jeon Jeongguk has... acute myelogenous leukaemia."
Six hearts collectively broke as they stared in pure shock, unable to respond. "It's a kind of sudden and quickly progressing leukaemia that affects both blood and bone marrow - which creates an excess of immature red blood cells, called myeloid cells, which can interfere with the making of white and red blood cells and platelets. He may be fatigued, get sudden strikes of fever and, or, pain, get recurrent infections and bruise very easily. There are still chances of him surviving, don't worry, the cancer's not that bad yet. There are certain treatments that can be done, such as chemotherapy, medications and stem cell transplants."How..how many are the chances of survival?"
"People under their 20's have a five-year rate of survival of a 67%, whereas people older than that have a 25%. Jeongguk's twenty-four, but he's got a naturally strong immune system, and his body fights it relatively well. It won't be easy at all, but he's still young, so there are chances he'll make it. I won't give you false hopes, though. Everything relies on how the therapy goes, how his body responds, and how hard he fights."

"We understand..."
The doctor ultimately nodded and they all bowed, watching the man walk away. And one per one, they all broke.
Some cried and broke down sobbing, some were blankly staring at anything, some wanted to throw up from the anxiety and grief. They could lose their youngest brother, the one they took in and raised as their child, and there's nothing more painful than losing a child. A pain so cruel it has no name to it.
