On the third day of Christmas my true love gave to me...
A face full of sticky, white goo
(it was frosting, dammit)Their first night together had been almost unbearable. Bright kept tossing and turning around on the floor, too hot under so many layers of fabric, making the air mattress squeak obnoxiously. And just when Win was about to fall asleep, Ame started meowing pitifully while desperately scratching at the door. Win repressed a groan. Even Bright himself gave up on getting any sleep at this rate as he sat up with a tired sigh, throwing the blankets off and scratching at his bedhead.
"Ame, what's going on? You're going to wake Metawin up," he muttered in a hushed whisper at the cat, getting up and squatting on the floor by the door, cocking his head while looking at her in the gloom. "Hm?"
Ame only looked back at him eerily, eyes glinting in the dark. Bright reached up and opened the door a crack but she stayed put, suddenly all calm and without a care in the world. She licked majestically at one fuzzy paw instead, ignoring Bright completely at this rate.
Win snickered silently, peeking at the sleepy exchange from under his blanket. Bright looked so dorky with that baffled expression on his handsome face, his fluffy hair a messy rat's nest.
Bright's gaze darted suddenly upwards and he caught the whites of Win's eyes looking back at him through the gloom. The fair skinned man only squeaked and quickly hid back under his blanket. Bright smiled ruefully, shaking his head both at the attention seeking cat and the silly antics of Win, these two were far too alike in a certain, peculiar way. He crawled back to his uncomfortable airbed that bounced unevenly under his weight as he settled back down with a tiny sigh, ready to start counting sheep again (he would much rather be together in the real bed with Win, counting the moles on his skin instead).
The next day was apparently free of schedule. Bright had disappeared to god knows where the first thing in the morning, Win's siblings had errands to run and all the other, out of town relatives, ventured out for a walk in the snow to the local park with his parents. With nothing to do Win looked around his room (he was not going to watch shows on Netflix since he already did that on his regular days off). In lieu of the spirit, an idea came to his mind.
Win was sitting in a pile of clothes inside his room, playing with Ame as she chased around after a loose drawstring from an old hoodie that he kept waving around. She made a wide slide on the floor and then skittered around, twisting her body to avoid slamming straight into a wall. Win cackled quietly, teasing the cat into a mad frenzy. Who was the beast master now, huh?
A flash of color caught his eye suddenly and he looked up, finding Bright leaning against the doorway, arms crossed over his broad chest, biceps bulging slightly and a smug little smirk curling on his lips. His hair was a silky curtain in front of his eyes and he was wearing a read beanie (what kind of people did even wear hats indoors), his ears sticking out slightly and making him look like a Christmas elf (a cute one though, Win's treacherous mind supplied).
Win flushed at being caught, immediately trying to hide the string behind his back but the cat would not have it as she pounced excitedly onto the air mattress with a loud belly flop somewhere behind Win, propelling a pile of clothes scattering over the floor.
Win winced but Bright's lips only jerked slightly with a held back laugh, eyes dancing with mirth.
"Sorry?" Win said sheepishly, creasing his brow in a mock pout. The pile of clothes that he was sitting in had been dumped all over Bright's makeshift bed, his closet door wide open and even more things still spilling out of there. "I'll get this cleaned up," he then added hurriedly and made a motion to get up.
