Nikki's pov

I gasp, feeling my head heavy, and close my eyes for a moment.

The silence after the loud gunshot makes the worst noise in my mind and Natalia howls outraged.

They are here... Mason, Lucas... They came to kill us.

My hands get instinctually wrapped around my lower stomach, right in front of where my baby is hidden safe and a new emotion gets born in me, an emotion caused from my instinct to protect it, a terrifyingly scary one.

I need blood, I need to kill them both and I don't feel sorry about it. I don't even feel guilty, it's the survival's instinct and it's more intense, because expect from my baby I have to protect Albert, Stacy and Mila, but there are more...

I have the desperate need to take my revenge for everything that Mason and Lucas has done and are planning to do, I want to put an end, I! I want to make it, they have to pay for their crimes, for everything Diana, Alice and everyone else have suffered from their dirty hands.

Killing is against my vows, my nature, morals and beliefs, but this time it'll be fair, they totally deserve it and I must make it for all those I love.

I take a deep breath and open my eyes determined. My heart beats so fast that her noise is like she roars and Natalia howls again, this time pushing me. She wants to be released, she is thirsty for the very first time after too many years and it's hard for me to hold her back, but I have my plans, she has to wait...

I am about to run outside, where Mila, Albert and Stacy are, ignoring the guys, who are still screaming through my fallen mobile, but when I reach at the door and before I get out, Mila appears, pushes me back and pulls a panicked Albert and a shocked Stacy inside. Her features are way different, her eyes are much darker, her cheeks are burning red and her jaw clenches like... She shares my intense anger!

She is not scared, she is furious, she wants the same thing I do and she is ready, like I'm!

"They found us, we can't get out! They are hidden somewhere too close, they can see us, but we can't!" Albert shouts breathless, shaking and running his hands through his hair, making the others from the phone stop talking immediately.

Mila turns around in order to close and lock the door as fast as she can and Stacy collapses and falls on the floor trembling. She was the target, she was outside the whole time, they wanted to shoot her and the poor girl is horrified, it was a lot for her to take, she was not prepared about it.

I give her a quick, very inquisitive look, although I am sure that she is perfectly fine and the bullet didn't find its target, and kneel in front of her. The house is too dark, since all the windows' shutters are closed and no light can get in, but my vision is clear and it doesn't take me more than a moment to make sure that there is no blood on her, she doesn't have even a single, small scratch.

That was extremely close...

"Nikki, are you alright?"

Daniel's full of worry voice brings me back to real time, it drags me away from my sore, too brief illusion and I caress Stacy's pale cheek with my left hand while I take my mobile with my right one. I look at Mila, who gets angrier and angrier as the seconds pass, and then I give a short look at Albert, who seems to be dizzy, just like I expected.

He has absolutely no idea from fights, guns and dangers. He always was against them, he doesn't believe in war, enemies, tension, hatred and malice. For Albert there is always another way, a peaceful one... He is too kind and naïve, I have told him many times that we don't live in fairytales, but he never really tried to understand. He doesn't want to change his beliefs, because it's easier for him in this way, since he can't stand fighting. He avoids the dangerous path, but I am now sure that he realizes his mistake.
