"Lamelo, what do you think led you to earning the award for rookie of the year? And what do you believe got you through your first season?"

"Umm, practice really. I spent years learning different methods and skills, and that taught me a lot of different ways to play the game,"

"Yes!" The 8 month old girl who sat on his lap babbled.

"And this lil girl right here," he laughed along with the reporters. "Her and my family are really my biggest supporters and they motivate me to be better every single day,"

"Thanks Melo, and congrats again,"

"Thank you brotha," he stood up with his little one and headed back into the tunnel.

Finally answering his ringing phone, he was greeted by his whole family via FaceTime.

He saw everyone cheering and clapping while saying congrats and we're so proud of you!

"Thank yall" he laughed.

"In my eyes that jumpshot was crooked as hell this year, but you did your thing this year lil bro. You did your thing," Zo nodded.

"Shutup," Melo laughed.

"I'm proud," Tina nodded while wiping a tear. Gelo agreeing with her.

"Aww mama, don't cry,"

"Boy you know how your mama is about her babies. But I'm proud of you boy!" Lavar loudly shouted.

"Thank yall,"

"What you getting into after this?" Zo questioned.

"I'm not sure but I'm finna get my baby out of here because people been getting on her nerves all day,"

Lamelo looked down at his daughter that had her face turned up as people repeatedly waved and said hi to her.

"Just like her damn mama," Gelo laughed.

"I know right. But ima catch yall later,"

"Alright," they ended the call.

"Fix your face mama, they not doing nothing to you," he tickled her little tummy making her break out into a fit of giggles.

"We did it mama! We won," he cheered her on as she repeatedly clapped her tiny hands.

Grabbing his duffel bag and heading out of the arena, he opened the back door of his car to get her situated.

"Noooo please don't cry" he watched her pout. "I know you don't like being strapped in here but it's so you can be safe baby,"

"It's okay," he whispered as she silently cried.

"Remember we just won rookie of the year okay! Think about that. Let's be happy about it...please?" He begged.

Her tears slowly but surely stopped falling after a while.

"That's my girl! High five?"

She grabbed onto his large fingers with the both of her hands, still not being able to understand what a high five was.

"Good job cutie. Let's get you home okay?" He gently shut the door after handing her a bottle.

                               ••

"I got a surprise for you pretty girl!" He carried her closely while heading up the stairs of his home.

"Ready," he opened the door to her newly renovated bedroom.

Walking in you could clearly see how new everything was.

"On the left we have your crib with the lil pictures on the wall. Kept that simple," he spoke to her.
