"Tauriel?" Tauriel! I know your here somewhere. You can't hide from me!"

Legolas climbed up in a tree and saw her auburn hair. She was sitting in the tree right across from him. He jumped off and climbed into the tree Tauriel was sitting in. "Tauriel, don't you know I was looking for you?" She continued to stare at the sunset

."Look at me." He put his hands on her perfectly pointed chin and turned it towards himself. He saw tears in her eyes. "What's wrong?" he asked in a very serious voice.

He hated seeing her like this. The reason - He loved her. But she did not know that. They had always been bestfriends since their childhood. They understood each other perfectly.

"Please tell me." he said gently. "Your father said for me to'... she started. ...to tell you that you are to be betrothed in a few weeks time. Legolas' eyes widened. "Betrothed?!" he yelled. "To whom?"

"Lady Ariana of Springdelle."

No. Legolas thought. If he was going to get betrothed to someone, it was going to be Tauriel. He knew his fathers rules very well. He was a prince and he could not marry a lowly Silvan - elf. But to him, she was like a Queen. He did not care about her status. He wanted to marry her and only her.

"Why are you crying?" asked Legolas.

"After your married, I will have no one to talk to. You will be busy with your wife and -"No. I shall not marry her. I don't even like her. She is bloody disgusting!"

Tauriel giggled a little bit. "Yes there we go, theres that smile. Now come, we should get back to the Kingdom. It's getting dark and you need to be on patrol Captain." sad Legolas while climbing down the tree and helping Tauriel. "Okay, okay...I'm coming. Race you to the gates!" They both ran off into the warm summer breeze. They reached inside the castle and said goodbye. Then Tauriel went outside for her patrol. She was the Captain of the Gaurd of course. It was her duty to patrol the grounds for any Orcs or Spiders. It was also her job to protect the prince.

As usual, Tauriel was walking back and forth in front of the gates with 4 more gaurds by her side. She looked up to the castle and saw Legolas staring down at her.

He smiled and she smiled back. She had a secret. She loved him. But given her status, she could not be with him. Thranduil, the king would never approve of it. She never thought herself worthy of being with Legolas. And now that he was getting betrothed. she would never have a chance with him. Besides, why would a Prince fall for her?

Tauriel's POV

My shift was finally over. Another gaurd took over for me and I headed for my chambers. I layed down in my bed and and driffted off. After what felt like 5 minutes, I heard a knock on my door. I got out of bed and opened it. It was...Legolas. "What are you - "Shhhh come with me." He grabbed my arm and brought me outside and into the garden. We climbed up a tree and he spoke. "I brought you here because of the stars. The looked so beautiful tonight, I'd thought you would love them.

"I do."

"By the way, Happy Birthday.

"Awww. thanks Legolas."

[FlashBack]

"You cant catch me!" giggled Tauriel. 'Come back here.' Legolas tagging behind her. She stopped and he bumped into her and they both trampled in a pile of leaves. Legolas who was now on top of her, brushing her away her auburn hair. It blended in with the leaves which made her beautiful face stand out even more. "I have a gift for you." Tauriel got up and Legolas took a leaf out of her hair and handed her a small jewelery box while saying "Happy Birthday mellon. Thebox looked hand carved -by elves perhaps. "Oh, Legolas it is very nice but I have nothing to put in here,"

"Open it."

Tauriel opened the box and something shimmered in the light. It was a diamond necklace with a pendant deorated by smaeller diamonds hanging on the rest of the necklace.

"Do you like it" asked Legolas eagerly.

"I- I love it!"

[End of FlashBack]

Legolas' POV

She was truly beautiful.

I had never mistaken her hair colour for red. It was the perfect shade of auburn with a tint of mahogony. Her laugh was like a medelious tune. Her smile brought it all together which was wrapped up by her beautiful green eyes. Like a wave of green in the sunset. She had her hand on the branch for her support. I put my hand on hers. It was warm.

"Tauriel, I need to tell you something. I love you.

"I love you too."

she loves me? Wow I guess confessing it wasn't such a bad thing after all.

Tauriel's POV

He loved me! I can't belive it.

Legolas' POV

I leaned in, Tauriel not moving. I pulled her lips towards mine and we kissed. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw her pendant twinkling in the moonlight. I closed my eyes. I was with the one I loved most.

After about a minute, Tauriel pushed away. "Im sorry Legolas, but a lowly Silvan elf like I, cannot be with a High prince like you." And with that, she turned her face.

"I don't care about your status Tauriel, and you've always known that." I said.

"Yes, but your father cares very much. And besides, you fiancé is coming tomorrow. Im pretty sure she wouldn't like to see her husband - to - be with another she - elf.

'I've already told you, I WILL NOT marry her.' She is quite ugly, as I remember.'

I pulled her into a tight hug. "Don't worry Tauriel, I will always be here for you."

And with that I took her back to her chambers, and I went back to mine.
