“What do you mean I have to take gym again?” I asked the principal. “Well Xavier, your health class got cancelled and so to make up for Health you will be taking gym again. Only for this semester.” Principal Larvie pointed out.  “Fine hand me the dang note.” I responded. He handed me the note and I walked out. I can’t believe I have to take Gym again. I worked my ass off last semester in that class. Now I have to take it again? It is like it was a waste last semester. I can’t wait until I graduate from this hell hole. I open the gym door and handed the teacher my note. I look up and see Ryder. I began to stare at him and he stared back. Why does he keep staring at me? It’s like my eyes are attracted to him and it is the same way for him. Sutton runs up to him and he looks away. My heart beats rapidly every time I look at him. I walk to the locker room and sit on the bench. Every time I try to Ignore Ryder he is right there. I’ll probably just stay in here the whole class. I mean, it would probably be for the best. I grab my phone and start browsing through my Instagram. I hear the door open and of course it is Ryder. WHY MUST THIS HOT HUNK MOCK ME?! “Hey….” I mumbled. “The teacher is looking for you.” He smiled. Oh my god, that smile. Why does he have to smile like that? HIs face is so bony and when he smiles it makes him look so much hotter. “Yeah I really don’t want to go out there.” I responded nervously. I stand up putting my phone in my back pocket. He kept getting closer and closer until I was against the wall. “You don’t have to be nervous around me.” He whispered into my ear. “What are you doing?” I asked. He stepped back and looked at me. “There is this party at this guy’s house tonight. You should come.” He says and pulls out my arm. He writes down the address. “The party starts at nine. I really hope you come.” He whispers into my ear and walks out. What the hell was that?? BREATHE XAVIER! BREATHE! I yelled at myself. I decided to walk out and walked over to the bleachers. “What took you so long Xavier?” Asked Mr. Long. “Sorry I had technical difficulties involving my love life.” I responded and people started laughing. Ryder looks down at me and then Sutton looks at him and smiles. I feel like she knows what is up with him. “Well leave your love life at home.” Mr. Long demanded. I nodded. I began to think about Ryder. Why can’t I stop thinking about him? Falling for a straight guy is not my thing. Well…. I don’t think it was straight of him what he just did. But still, he needs to stop doing this to me. The bell rings and I go back into the locker room to change. Ryder glanced at me here and there while I was changing. Is he into me? I wondered. I so need to talk to Shay about this. Everyone walked out and it was only me and Ryder left in the locker room. “I….Um…I’ll be at your party. But if I don’t like it I will leave.” I informed. “Good.” He winked at me and left the locker room. I grab my bag and walked out heading to study hall in the library. Study hall was a great time for me. Because I can catch up on stuff. But sometimes I have to tutor people. I guess that is what happens when you are a straight “A” Student. I go to my locker and Shay is waiting next to it. “I need to talk to you.” I said really fast. “About?” She asked. “Not here. I’ll talk to you at lunch though boo.” I said and walked away. I made sure I grabbed my headphones so I can listen to my music. I love music so much. I also write and sing. But not in front of people. The only person that heard me actually sing was Shay. And she loved my song. I am so nervous to sing in front of people. I was so surprised when I sung in front of Shay. I walked into the library and the librarian was standing there waiting for me. “Hey Jewels.” I said and smiled. The librarian is also my Aunt. My mom’s sister. She used to babysit me all the time when I was little. “Hey sweetie, your math teacher Mrs. Rosin wants you to tutor someone.” She says and hands me a file. “Ryder Fritz?” I asked nervously. “Yeah?” He asked behind me. My eyes widen and my aunt starts to giggle. “Xavier is going to be tutoring you.” Jewels informs Ryder. “Oh, ok. Cool.” Ryder says and walk towards the table in the back. “I remember when you used to have a huge crush on him.” She whispered into my ear. “SHHHH” I hushed her and walked over to sit in front of Ryder. We begin to stare at each other again. I try to look away but I can’t.  “Look, I am not tutoring you. You can sit there and watch me listen to my music.” I informed and plugged in my headphone. He shakes his head and looks down at his book. I turned on my Spotify playlist, “Bad Intentions” and the song Love Me Harder by Ariana Grande started playing. I begin to hum to the words and working on some homework. I can’t help notice seeing Ryder out of the corner of my eye smiling at me. My face turns read and I say, “What are you smiling at?” He started to laugh. “You were humming to Love me harder.” He pointed out. My face turns red from embarrassment. I didn’t think anyone could hear that. Way to make a fool of yourself Xavier. “Oh…..” I said awkwardly. “It’s cute. Don’t be embarrassed.” He informed. I start to blush a little. He is seriously messing with my emotions right now. “What are you doing? You are straight. Not gay. You are messing with my emotions here. And I do not like it.” I said in anguish. I got up from my seat and took my stuff with me. I ran to the bathroom and leaned against the sink. I breathe in and breathe out. This is seriously messing with my mind. I can’t think about him. The door opens and Sutton comes walking in. “Um... You are in the boy’s bathroom you know that right?” I asked. “I seen you storm out of the library like some maniac. So I was just checking up on you.” She responds. “Why do you care?” I raised an eyebrow. “Look, I know we haven’t got along in the Past Xavier. Even though you are my neighbor I want to become friends with you again. Like old times. What happened?” “What happened? WHAT HAPPENED?! You threw a party at your house and when I asked you about it you acted like I didn’t exist. So why care now Sutton?” “Let’s put that behind us. I know I was a huge bitch back in freshman year. And that was because I was scared of what I was getting into. High school changes people.” She says and crosses her arms. Shay comes walking in and stares at Sutton. “What the hell you doing in here?” Shay looked at Sutton with a look to kill. “Shay, its fine. She can stay.” I informed. Sutton smiles at me and I smile back. Shay sighed and asks, “Fine. What’s going on?” I stare at the mirror trying to figure out how to say what I’m going to say. “Is it…Um… Weird….. if a straight guy flirts with you?” I ask. Sutton starts to laugh. “What do you know?” I stare down at her. “Nothing, if that straight guy says he is so called straight then flirts with you, he is obviously not straight.” She points out. “She has a point.” Shay nods her head up and down. “UGHHH!” I shout and stare at myself at the mirror. “Alright pretty boy, quit staring at yourself and tell us who are you talking about?” Sutton asks. “RYDER FUCKING FRITZ!” I yell. Shay and Sutton look at each other and start to laugh. “Are you crazy? That whore slept with the whole cheer squad and god who knows else.” Shay laughs more. “Hey, that is my best friend. But so true.” Sutton laughs along with Shay. “I am leaving now.” I say and grab my bag off the floor. “And go back where? Tutoring your new boy toy?” Sutton smiles. I just suck it up and go back into the library. I see that Ryder is gone. So I go back over and sat at the table. I wish this day was just over with already. I huffed. I start to hum to the music that I wrote and waited for the bell to ring.
