When Kyoya returned home that night he went straight to his father’s office, waiting outside to be called in.
“Yes Kyoya?” His father was alone, seated behind his desk. He stood in front of it, having not been offered a seat.
“I have met Umeko’s father and although the encounter was brief he wishes to meet with you.” Kyoya handed the card over the desk to his father “He wishes to make friends of the two families since Umeko and I have become such good friends as of late.”
Kyoya watched as his father studied the card, he felt proud of himself for all his accomplishments with this situation, but a small part felt horrible. He knew that in the end he would have to break things off with Umeko, she would want nothing to do with me once she found out about everything. And honeslty, I don’t blame her. Kyoya tried his best to focus and wait for his father to finally address him.
“This is very good work Kyoya, but of course you will continue on with this girl until the final plans are in place.” His father placed the card down on his desk, looking directly at him
“Of course father. I have come this far and I will wait for your approval before ending all contact with Umeko.” It hurts to even say, how could I ever think I could make this man happy when he see’s nothing wrong with this entire plan? Business is one thing, but this?
“Of course you will wait and on my order you will do as I say when I say it. I will not have you ruining this plan, I have worked too hard on this for you to have it blow up in my face.”
Kyoya stayed silent as his father stood behind his desk, anger flowing through him.
“Remember your place Kyoya, the bottom. No first born daughter, heir to a company would ever marry a third born son. The family will have nothing to gain by your addition. I know that and you can be sure Takoya knows that just as well. The only thing you will ever be to a girl of that status is a play thing, she knows her place and you best never forget yours. You are dismissed.”
His father turned his back on him as Kyoya made his way to the door, closing it softly. He knew his father was right, he knew every word of it was true. Umeko is just having fun with me, she’ll never see me as anything more than last in line. He walked into his room, closing the door behind him. He sat on his pillow and immediately looked to the side of him. He had left Umeko’s pillow next to his, waiting for her next visit. He grabbed the pillow and threw it with all his force across the room. I have lost focus in all of this. I let myself drift too far and became distracted. From this point on I am back on track. No more losing my focus or having ridiculous thoughts of Umeko and I being together. She is nothing but a piece to a puzzle I have to solve and I will get that piece in place no matter what!
