Ring! Ring! End of the day. I get to go home, also known as homeroom with Ms. Freet. Ugh!!
She just glared at me. I just walk in and pull out my sleeping bag. I don't have my book due to the incident before. I just lie there staring at the ceiling, daydreaming about the test. I imagine about getting the privilege of living my life and a smile stretches across my face. As the dream ends, I wake up to Ms. Freet bending over me.
"Stop dreaming,"she says.
What else am I supposed to do? I think.
I sit up and wait. Students enter the room, talking in tense voices. They sit around me. Ms. Freet begins.
"Soon, you will begin the test. Tomorrow morning is The Beginning Ceremony. You will be called up one by one tomorrow. You will receive your first clue. Once you get your clue, you will be transported to the society where the answers to your clues are hidden in obvious and sometimes not obvious places. You will only have one day to solve each clue. If you don't, then you don't get the privilege to live..."
Oh crap! I am going to die!
Ms. Freet continues, "However if you do solve the clues, the answer will include your next clue. But the clues get harder as you go along. The first clue is pretty hard though. Remember, no help from other competitors. You are on 24/7 surveillance. If you do use a partner, both of you will be evacuated."
Also known as death.
Mrs. Freet continues on for about 20 minutes about unimportant details.
"Now get some sleep, my little ones."
Oh, now she treats us like "little ones".
The classroom lights fade and I see the insides of my eyelids. I begin dreaming about Jackson and The Beginning Ceremony. I feel tense, but also animated.
