Anna walked back into the castle a few minutes after Elsa and Rolf went in. The two gingers awkwardly looked at each other for a few moments before Hans rubbed the back of his neck and said he wanted to speak with her. Anna had hesitantly agreed, and she was very glad she had.
All this time, and I may have been overreacting...
Anna bit her lip. But she did have her reasons to be upset, of course, and Hans even acknowledged that. Anna breathed out deeply.
I guess, if Elsa's found it in her heart to except him, I guess I can too...
~
Elsa gasped. And that was pretty much a she did for what seemed like forever. Rolf smiled (no, grinned like the Cheshire Cat) and patiently waited for Elsa's response.
She will say yes, she has to, I know it...
Elsa eyed the big ring, her hand over her heart in surprise. "Rolf, I..."
"I can't except."
His grin dropped at Elsa's answer, and he stood up, looming over her threateningly. "No?"
Elsa swallowed, but her expression showed no fear. "I'm sorry, but I cannot marry you. I don't- I just don't feel that way."
"Oh, why not? You should..." He leaned down, getting too close for Elsa's comfort. Rolf eyed her lips and her cleavage, even her neck, licking his lips like an animal who just spotted it's pray. "Stop that.." She said quietly, dangerously. "Stop what? Admiring my queen..? Marry me, Elsa.." He licked his lips again, sneering, as his mouth brushed over a spot on her neck. "Get off!" Elsa yelled, shooting a blast of frost at his crotch. He yelped and shot up, taking a step away from the snow queen. He was silent for a moment, before turning back to Elsa with a dark glare. She was hugging her knees to her chest, trying her damned hardest not to look frightened by this brute. He chuckled lowly, brushing the frost away from his crotch, and taking the step toward the Queen again.
And he slapped her. Hard.
Elsa gapped, her hand going to her stinging cheek, touching it delicately. "Not the best way to first touch my fiancé, but it'll do." Rolf sneered. Elsa looked up at him, her fist clenching and ice brewing in her palm. "Carful, though," he warned as she raised her hand. "If I were to wound up frozen, the kingdom may take you for the monster of a queen again." He said, before opening the library door, exiting, and slamming the door behind him. Elsa sat in shock, her hand still cradling her cheek, trying to sooth it as tears stung her eyes.

Hans' mood was just grand. Anna seemed to have forgiven him..! He had Sitron! He may have feelings for Elsa...
Hans bit the inside of his cheek, slipping on a shirt and new trousers from inside his room, and stepped back out.
It's not right of me to think like this, especially sense she's with Rolf...
Hans scolded himself, rubbing the back of his neck with his heating up hands. He passed all the castles rooms in a blur, too wrapped up in his thoughts.
But then, he passed by a very cold room. With frost.
Elsa
Hans stopped and immediately knocked on the frozen door. Hearing no response, a flicker of panic was felt in his chest and he thawed the door with no hesitation, bursting in. He found Elsa surrounded by ice spikes, cradling her cheek, a few tears falling. "Elsa..?!" Hans walked over to her, leaving his trail of thawed frost in his wake. "Stay away, Hans." Elsa said flatly, but loudly. A tone he'd never really heard before, coming from her. "But-"
".....you'll get hurt. So please, stay away." She said, quieter this time. Hans frowned sadly. "I cannot freeze, your majesty." He responded, lifting his hand, making the warmth of fire appear in his palm. Elsa watched with fascination in her eyes. Just a spark, but it was there. "What happened?" Hans couldn't help but ask.
Elsa brushed away her tears, thawing the rest of the ice around them. She thought of how Rolf had harmed her, threatened her. If she didn't marry him, what would he do?
"I-" her breath caught in her throat. "Rolf, he...proposed-"
Hans' heart shattered and he didn't know why, (though, maybe he did).
"And I said no-"
He quit chewing on the inside of his cheek.
"Then he- he tried to convince me in a terrible way, and when that didn't work, he...struck me." Elsa continued to cradle her cheek at the memory.
Hans stood in stunned silence for only a moment, before holding walking over to Elsa and taking her hand away. He sat next to her, and gently caught her chin, turning her to look at him. Elsa's breath hitched as he examined her cheek, which still had a slight pink mark. His frown deepened. "He'll pay for this," he promised quietly, lowly. "No," Elsa put a hand on his chest, as if that could stop him. Well, it certainly stopped all logical thought. "If anyone tries to harm him, he'll for sure hurt you, or Anna, or Kristoff, or anyone else I care about." Elsa choked back a sob. She wasn't so easily frightened now-a-days, but this brute was an exception. Hans couldn't help the flutter in his stomach; she cares about me?
Hans brushed away one of her tears with his thumb, gazing at her. He knew what he wanted, but now was not the time, and there may never even be a time at all. He kissed her cheek gently, warmly, caring. Elsa sniffed, biting her lip, and kept her hand against his chest, right over his heart, gripping his shirt as if for dear life.
And they stayed like that all night, holding each other, ignoring the rest of the world for those few perfect hours.

A/N: this chapter was inspired by Veronica Roth's book "Four", which I just finished today. It. Was. Amazing. I highly suggest it even if you haven't read the "Divergent" series. 😍
