Chapter 27

Finally

Hans mumbled to himself after the doctors left his room so he could dress and walk about. It had been too long being cooped up in his room- and he needed to see Elsa, even if she didn't want him to. After her finished dressing, he opened his door and walked out.

Elsa sat at her window seat, her head against the wall, a book long forgotten in her lap. Looking out at the first snowfall, Elsa sighed quietly and brought her knees up close to her chest.

Anna told me to see him; why is that so scary to me?

Elsa fought with herself as she played with her braid.

Oh, right; you were the reason he was shot with an arrow.

Elsa frowned and sighed again; she would always hate herself for not being able to stop Rolf so Hans wouldn't have ran in front of her.

Suddenly, Elsa's door flew open, making the Queen jump in her seat. There, in the doorway, was none other then Hans.

"H-Hans!" Elsa scrambled to stand up, shocked and excited all at once. Hans, mute, took long strides towards Elsa, until he was only centimeters away from her. With a heaving chest, Elsa pressed herself against the wall, unsure of what was going on in Hans' mind.

And then his lips were on hers.

Elsa's eyes widened his shock again as his hands came up to cradle her face, then slowly closed as she wrapped her arms around his neck in return.

"Why didn't you come to see me..?" Hans breathed out against her lips before kissing her again.

"I-I wanted to.. But I was s-scared.." Elsa choked out, clinging to him tightly. As her and Hans kept exchanging passionate kisses, the Queen felt her cheeks get damp with salty tears. Hans slowly pulled away and rested his forehead against hers, his thumb wiping away her tears gently. Elsa choked on a sob and held his hand against her face. "I w-wanted to see you but I couldn't... I was guilt stricken... You almost died because of me..."

"No, I almost died because of Rolf.."

"He wouldn't have shot you if I had have stopped him..!" Elsa argued weakly. "Why didn't you use your powers on him..?"

"I'd promised to myself that I'd never hurt another person in any way, after what happened in Arendelle.." Hans kissed away more of her tears.

"Elsa, I'm here now. I'll always always be here for you. Don't you see...? I love you." Hans looked at Elsa with wet green eyes. Elsa let out a shuddered laugh and smiled ever so slightly.

"I love you too..."
