Author's note: Yes, I ship myself with a skeleton. No, I do not need help.

It was more peaceful on the surface than it was in the Underground, Sans thought. His brother didn't yell at him anymore to stop being a lazy bum, his mate could cuddle up to his side without a target on their head, and he no longer lived in fear of being killed at some a-hole's whim.

One thing that had confused him, though, was the extensive range of holidays on the Surface. What the hell were all these holidays about? What was a religion?

Fallen, when he had asked that, had deadpanned him. He'd forgotten that they were basically a god.

Apparently, a bunch of holidays were to celebrate different religions and people, though there were those that celebrated anniversaries, like that Canada Day that Fallen celebrated, and Surfacing day for the monsters.

Then, there were birthdays, which were like personal holidays, which had confused him to all hell when Kitstorm came crashing down the door and Fallen jumped out the window. Why would someone need to celebrate their birthdays? Wasn't not dying enough, he asked Spirit Tree when he came in search of his girlfriend? Well, it was for Fallen, ST had explained, but apparently not for Kit.

Christmas had been the easiest of the holidays to grasp. It was similar to Gyftmas in the Underground, and the Monsters had eased into celebrating it alongside their traditional holiday.

It was a time to relax. To cuddle up with his mate, and to think about what was coming next. The snow against the door made him feel safer than he ever had in the Underground. Though he knew that Fallen would probably shovel it soon, he wanted to bask in the white protection outside his home, knowing that no hateful humans or monsters would come after him at this point in time. The snow was too thick to walk through.

Fallen was staring at something outside. Sans' eyelights followed theirs, and then he saw.

Nothing. The snow was covering the window. It made him feel safe...

The next thing he knew, Fallen was being a chaos gremlin outside with Kit. Neither he nor Spirit Tree knew exactly what was going on. All they saw was a tuft of fluffy black hair and two little gray points.  Ah yes, the finest point of comedy, two Tacs screaming at the snow.

Even the neighbours poked their heads out of the window and laughed. Door after door opened, and soon everyone was out chatting and exchanging greetings. Even Sans and ST had been approached a few times.

It was a good day, that day.
