Spirit Tree and Kitstorm were huddled up in their shared nest. Kitstorm's fire had gone out, and it had suddenly gotten extremely cold with the loss of their warmth.
Kitstorm was as cold as the dead, her body on the inside of the nest to protect her from the snowy onslaught outside.
Neither knew how Fallen could be out in this kind of weather. The snow, Spirit Tree noted, had to be taller than the little white-furred Akiena.
Kitstorm suddenly sat up and stretched, jostling the nest, before curling her tail around her mate's. Spirit Tree, in response, dragged her body closer to his and began grooming her.
"Tree," Kitstorm said quietly. "We have to get up soon."
"Later," ST yawned. The Winter Festival, which they were supposed to attend to see those coming of age off, could wait a little longer, couldn't it?
Kit sat up again, more aggressively this time, and threw her mate off her back.
"No, we're getting ready now. If we wait any longer we'll be late." Kit said, then fluttered off to get her robes on. Spirit Tree smiled after her.

And then they were at the festival. The flurry of snow had calmed, and the mates were crawling through the thick layer of snow to the Forest's Edge, where Fallen was waiting, their claws dug into the bark halfway up a tree.
"Finally," they said, huffing out a laugh past the thick robes partially covering their face. "I thought you guys were never gonna get here."
"Aww, sib," Kit laughed. "We wouldn't miss a chance to bother you for the world."
Climbing to their places, Spirit Tree and Kitstorm watched another group of young Tacs go on their way, robes fluttering in the wind.
The, as the sun set, the two kissed, the heat of their love reigniting Kitstorm's flaming tail.
Author's notes: and then the robe was burned off and everyone had a good laugh lol
all jokes aside tho im posting two today bc i didn't do one yesterday. expect the same thing to happen next week lol
but ill try to post every day :)
