Since Shinobu had learned to read and write, she began to fill herself with the knowledge that her parents' medical and pharmaceutical books had. She loved to learn, she was a very curious girl. The only thing she enjoyed more than being surrounded by books was being surrounded by the arms of her older sister or one of her parents.

At that time, her parents were dedicated to caring for and ensuring the health of the citizens of the town where they lived. The desire to learn more from little Shinobu made her father eventually take her to the home visits he used to do. As long as she was still and helped him with the tools, she was free to accompany him and it was certainly thanks to that that she decided to study pharmacy professionally when she grew up. She knew that for the era in which they lived it would be somewhat difficult to achieve her goal, but she trusted that her steel character would be enough to overcome any adversity.

One day, her father told her that he would go to the Kita neighborhood to treat a young woman for something that seemed to be a respiratory infection and as expected, she agreed to accompany him immediately despite the fact that the place was a bit far away.

It was a simpler neighborhood than theirs and the reason they were there and not in their town was that a friend of the girl's family recommended them. The house was also a little smaller than hers; Shinobu quickly understood that it was a more humble people than her own and she wondered if that mattered to her father.

"Welcome, thank you very much for coming. Follow me please, it's this way. " They were received by a young man clearly alarmed. She stayed behind her father, keeping a respectful silence as he began with the questions.

" It's about my wife. She has not felt well these days, she has a fever and she coughs a lot. We tried home remedies but it takes a week and a half like that. I beg of you, help her regain her health. " Before opening the door, the young man bowed deeply and humbly, trying to make them understand his despair.

The sight of a young woman lying on the futon breathing with some difficulty was what they found and although at the beginning that was Shinobu's interest, she had a strange sensation when she saw the boy who was holding the older's hand with both hands. So worried he didn't even realize the doctor had arrived.

"Giyuu, please make room. The doctor is here; Tsutako will be fine." the man approached the boy and took him by the shoulders to take him away from the young woman but he refused to let her go.

" Giyuu, it's okay." the young woman spoke slowly. " I promise you I'll be better in no time, but you must let the doctor work." She stroked his hair to give him confidence. The boy got up and looked at Shinobu's father with a pleading stare. His father answered him with a soft smile. The boy pursed his lips a little before leaving the room; It seemed like he hadn't even noticed the minor.

Although she tried not to be bothered by that "fault" it was impossible for her not to feel as if he had ignored her on purpose, but from the face he was wearing he must have been very scared that something would happen to that woman, so she tried to let it go.

She helped her father to check the girl with all the care he could, it seemed that she would collapse immediately if she tried to get up and judging by the cough she heard, her throat must have hurt a lot. She asked her father if it was possible to give her one of her mother's special syrups.
