The next morning Gert woke up next to Chase. She smiled. She softly touched his face with her hand. He was still sleeping. She got out of bed and she put her other clothes on. She looked out of the window. "A beautiful place, huh?" Chase asked. He already woke up without Gert knowing. Janet knocked on the door. Janet is Chase's mom. She's very kind but sometimes she doesn't want Chase to hang out with girls. She thinks his studies are more important. This time it was different. "Hi, little lovebirds! I made breakfast for you both." Janet said. She put a little table on Chase's desk and left the room. "Thank you, mom!" Chase called to Janet.
"I was thinking...maybe you want to go shopping for a new dress today? I really need something for my mom's birthday party. Maybe we could go find something to wear...for us both?" Gert said. Chase looked confused:"You want me to come too?" Gert nodded. "Yes, I mean. We are officially dating so I would like to bring you to my mom's party. And maybe you could stay at my place that night?" Chase wasn't sure. It would be very awkward to bring a guy to your mom's birthday party when you only had one date and only had sex once with him. Gert looked at Chase. "Why do you look like that? Do you not wanna come?" Gert asked. Chase answered: "I do but... it's just going really fast right now and I don't want to rush our relationship. It's like the first time that I am dating someone I really care about." Gert looked down. "Well, the party is just in a few days. Let me know what you've decided." Gert grabbed her bag and rushed to the nearest bus-stop to go home.
Chase went downstairs. He took his laptop and went to the kitchen. Janet was cooking. "So...you and Gert? Things got real?" she asked. Chase sighed. "Yeah but I'm pretty sure I already messed up." he said. Janet looked concerned at Chase. "Why? Something wrong? I saw Gert rushing off but I just thought she was late for something." Janet said. "I told her that I didn't want to rush our relationship. She asked me to go to Stacy's birthday party but I think it's too fast." He said with a sad face. "Don't worry. If she doesn't want to slow down then maybe she's not the right girl for you. Though, I was actually going to ask you the same thing about that party. Stacey and I are still friends so I was going to her party and I wanted to ask you to go with me. Your dad is too busy in the lab so he can't go with me and you know, it would be awkward to go alone." Janet said. Chase agreed. Maybe going to that party wouldn't be so bad.
