Chapter 9: The Battle Tournament Continues

The semifinal round began. The first matchup was me against Iida. I was feeling pretty nervous to be sure. Iida's speed would definitely be an issue. But what if I turned it into an advantage for me? If he used Recipro Burst again, there's a chance I could use his momentum to drive him out of the ring. I'd just have to be careful and exploit the chance when I got it.

We walked into the ring and faced each other. "Good luck (Y/N)." "I'll need it, you are one of the top students in class." "Yes, but I can be certain I'll need to be on guard against you." he responded. "Likewise." "All right, ready, begin!" "Recipro Burst!" Iida yelled. So he was using it from the start. He tried to get behind me, but I grabbed his arm and spun him around me, sending him on a direct course for the edge of the ring.

He tried to stop, and managed to do so at the very edge of the arena. This didn't save him however as I ran up behind him and gave him a hard kick to the back, sending him out of bounds. "Iida is out of bounds, which makes (Y/N) the winner!" Present Mic announced."It was a good match Iida. You should be proud." I say, extending my hand to him.

"Well, you won fair and square." he says, shaking my hand. "How did you know I was going to use Recipro Burst?" he asked. "Simple really, I knew I was more than a match for you in terms of strength, so I knew you'd have to use your speed to try and force me out of bounds before I could use it on you." I respond. "I see. Well, considering I lost to one of the top students, I accept my loss entirely." he said.

The next round was Bakugou vs Todoroki. A battle of opposites. Calm and collected vs Fiery Rage. Fire vs Ice. And sorry to disappoint, but it plays out the same as in the anime, except Bakugou doesn't go crazy afterwards.

It was time for the last round. Me vs Bakugou. "It's the moment you've been waiting for, the last battle of the UA Sports Festival!" Present Mic announced. "From the Hero Course, it's the big blue brawler of Class 1-A, (Y/N)!" The crowd erupted in applause. "Also from the Hero Course, the fiery fighter who has blazed his way through the tournament, Katsuki Bakugou!"

"I guess you finally got that rematch Bakugou." I said. "Yeah, and it's gonna even sweeter than I hoped, because I get to mop the floor with you in front of the whole world." "Big talk, let's see if you can back it up." I said as I got in a fighting stance. "Just watch me, you're gonna wish you'd never come to this school!" he said. "You may begin!" Midnight announced.

Bakugou launched himself at me with one of his explosions. He tried to deliver a right hook, but I saw it coming and grabbed his arm, slamming him to the ground. He got up quick and tried to land a few punches on me, but I dodged him easily enough.

"Are you mocking me? Fight me like a man!" he yelled. I decided to oblige him and delivered a jab to his jaw and followed up with a right cross. I could already see Bakugou's weakness, he let his anger get the best of him. That alone could give me the edge.

He continued to throw random punches. I either blocked or dodged all of them and got some shots in on his ribs and jaw. "I don't believe this! Bakugou can't even land a blow on (Y/N)! It's like he knows every move Bakugou is going to make before he does!" Present Mic shouted. "Grrr, hold still so I can hit you!" Bakugou yelled in frustration. Like that was gonna happen. I delivered a hard right hook to his ribs, causing him to fall to his knees.

"It's over Bakugou, you can't beat me. There's no point in continuing this fight." I said. I could tell he was wearing down, and I hadn't started breaking a sweat yet. "That's what you think!" he yelled, standing up and setting an explosion off right in my face. Unlike the last time he tried this, it was much more effective, he must've restrained himself at school. "Ahhh!" I yelled, throwing a punch to Bakugou to gain some distance.

"Ahhh! My eyes, I can't see!" I yelled, holding my hands against my face. "What's this? Bakugou has blinded (Y/N)!" Present Mic announced, clearly surprised at Bakugou's actions. I tried to figure out where he was, when I felt an explosion against my back. "This is what you get for underestimating me!" he yelled. I turned around and tried to hit him, but he dodged me.

"You may be a good fighter, but you can't win if you can't see!" he said, delivering a punch to my stomach. As much as I hated to admit it, he was right, at the rate this was going, I would lose before my eyesight recovered. I knew I had to do something.

Wait, my beast form. I'd heal faster and I'd be able to smell where he is, while having protection against his explosions. I changed into my beast form, and I immediately knew where he was. I swung my fist in his direction and connected.

"What's this? (Y/N) has changed into his beetle form and has landed a punch on Bakugou!" Present Mic shouted. "I was waiting for you to do this!" Bakugou shouted. What? He wanted to fight me like this? "I want you to face me at your full power! I know you can do better than this!" he yells. I tried to attack him again, but he avoided me, setting off another explosion, this one stronger than his previous ones. Has he been holding back as well?

He kept avoiding me and landing explosions on me, and my sight hadn't returned yet. I realized I didn't have a choice. I changed into my Hyper Beast Form. I could tell I had less time than normal because of the damage I'd already taken. Fortunately, the extra boost to my healing had given me my sight back.

"Now I can defeat you with no regrets." Bakugou said. "What is this? (Y/N) had another transformation in reserves? Bakugou must really be pressuring him for him to be using it!" Present Mic yelled out. "Bring it on bug bastard!" Bakugou yelled at me.

He rushed me and set off another explosion, but this one didn't even scratch my exoskeleton. I delivered a hard cross to his jaw, sending him flying and almost knocked him out of the ring, but he used his explosions to stay in bounds. I could feel my body starting to give out.

I had to end this now. I rushed Bakugou and swung my left at him, but I was actually faking him out. When he moved to block my left, I swung my right for all I was worth. He barely managed to stay in bounds, but I could tell he was about to give out.

I rushed him and gave him the finishing blow. A move that would surely knock him out of the ring. I delivered a left jab to his jaw, followed by a right cross to his ribs, continued with a left uppercut, lifting him off the ground, before delivering a right cross to his chest, sending him out of bounds. "Katsuki Bakugou is out of bounds, making (Y/N) the winner!" Midnight announced.

I dropped my transformation, being too tired to keep it up. I had done it, I won. This did not sit well with Bakugou. He launched himself at me, and started attacking me. I was too tired to fight back. He kept delivering blow after blow to me, until I started coughing up blood.

Fortunately, Midnight used her quirk to knock Bakugou out, saving me. I was rushed to the infirmary. Yeah, that was one of the problems with my healing, it was hindered greatly if I was tired, like I was now. They brought me to Recovery Girl and she patched me up. She couldn't use her quirk on me because of how tired I was, but she made it to where I could attend the awards ceremony with no problems.

"That Bakugou did a real number on you." she said. "Yeah, he didn't take losing too well." I said. A few minutes later, the awards ceremony was held. Bakugou had to be restrained to ensure he didn't attack me again. I received first place, while he got second, and Todoroki got third place. I was feeling great.

Tomura's POV, LOV's hideout

"Such a waste of talent." I say, looking at (Y/N) in the sports festival. "We have to get him back Kurogiri." I say. "That may be difficult. It's clear he has at least a moderate amount of control over his Hyper Beast Form." he says. "And that Bakugou kid, he'd make an excellent villain." I add.

"By the way, what did Stain have to say about joining the league?" I ask. "He says he won't join." Kurogiri tells me. "Well, that's disappointing. What about our other new recruits?" I ask him. "They're doing well," he tells me. "Good, we'll need all the help we can get if we want to get (Y/N) back." I say. "Even if we can capture him, I doubt he'd willingly rejoin us." Kurogiri points out. "I'll come up with something, don't worry about it." I tell him.
