"Laughter is an affect resulting from the sudden transformation of a heightened expectation into nothing."
Yoshikawa never understood why ancient philosophers thought of laughter as something evil, something that had to be forbidden for the homo sapiens.
In fact, not everything about laughter had to be associated with meaningless expectations. For her, laughter was an emotion that showed one's individual affection for anything, even if those emotions were based on something ridicule and absurdly.
A person who laughed never seemed to be weak in any means, nor were they only allowed to laugh in amusement.
One did not have to differentiate between nervousness and happiness when it came to laughter, and did not have to turn such a physical reaction into something devilish.Even a tragedy could have been laughable.
"Minori, I will never get over the fact that you just made two boys fall for you in one night.", her friend, Miki, laughed while the group of friends were sitting in the school's cafeteria eating their lunches.
Not more than a few days had passed after the events that occurred to the girl. Frankly, her friends have had not remained silence ever since, instead they made up scenarios together, which made the teenager drive insane. In fact, she hadn't talked to either of the boys, and purposely avoided the black haired one, whose hair strands were always chaotically protruding on his head.
However, it seemed as though he intentionally ignored the girl as well, as his eyes were always glued to a book in his hands. As usual, he was busy reading the sayings of some poets or philosophers that had already passed away in ancient times.
"I talked to them once.", she murmured as her gaze roamed to one of the boys she referred to. Minori observed his steps that lead his figure to a table near the window. It was a distant seat. Moreover, she noticed that he did not have anything with him but his book and the same bag he brought with him when he was reading on the rooftop of the school.
God, he must have been a lonely boy.
"So? Look at you staring at him right now!", Toshiko now giggled following her friend's eyes that were fixating the man several tables away from them.
To tell the truth, this whole situation was ludicrous to her. This poor boy witnessed her losing her mind over something extraordinary laughable. It was humiliating, actually. She was embarrassed for her entire lifespan, a life that had only just begun.Having left a loud sigh, she packed away her lunch and stood up from the wooden chair.
"Look, someone's mad!", Miki looked up to her friend with an amused smile drawn on her glossy lips.
She was the type of woman that made men rip out their hearts to make their souls her present. At least that is what Yoshikawa thought whenever she examined her friend.
Unfortunately, everyone including in this group of friends was awkward when it came to talking to strangers. So she did not really benefit from her attractiveness, when every guy she put her hands on thought of her as a creep with no personality. Why were human beings always so superficial in their actions? Why'd everyone to judge someone based on their first impressions? It was not necessary to be self centered when it came to individuality.
"You're still coming to the game later, right?", she continued, her gaze roaming around between her friend and the boy across the room. "He'll be there, too.", she smiled at her friend flinching at her declaration.
"I don't know, but i really need to get some air right now.", she whispered in response, grabbed her bag and rapidly walked towards the exit. "Also, that hot guy will be playing against them again next month!", she screamed across the entire cafeteria for everyone else to hear, besides Yoshikawa, because she had already shut her ears to the external world.
