Chapter 6
Isabella looked around the table feeling even more awkward than she already felt, she was not sure what to say after Aiden's outburst, she began to think of the best excuse she could use to get out of the situation that she found herself in. She was just about to speak when Carly caught her off guard.
"So are you going to be my new nanny Miss Isabella?" Carly queried not paying any attention to the fact that her real father had just stormed off.
"I...Umm......." Isabella did not want to break the little girl's heart, so she thought carefully of the right words to say.
"You should take the Job." Brian Roxwell said jumping into the conversation. "The pay is good, you get free food, and you don't have to pay rent as you will be living with my nephews."
Isabella did not know a single thing about being a nanny, she was the only child and had no siblings, her parents never introduced her to any extended family members, and the last time she was in the same room with a child was when her closest friend Rachel was looking after her sister's son and that was back in college.
"I think Aiden is right." She contended, "I don't know the first thing about being a nanny, and I wouldn't want to disappoint you all."
"Nonsense." Brian Roxwell countered, "You just need to keep Carly company, It's only till January, and someone that Carly can take a liking to is our only criteria right now."
"The job is paying four thousand dollars per month, if that helps." Austin stated in hopes he could sway Isabella's mind, he was willing to raise the pay even higher thinking of the amount of time he had wasted interviewing nannies, time was money and he did not want to waste any more of his time on temporary nannies.
"Four thousand dollars?!" Isabella gasped.
"Five thousand if you can start tomorrow." Austin insisted.
Isabella could not believe the amount she was being offered to be a nanny, heck she was ready to read every educational book about child development ever written for the five grand a month. She did the calculations in her head, the new income would mean she could continue to pay off her normal bills, start her mother on the new drug trial the doctor prescribed and with not having to pay money for food or rent, she would have at least seven thousand-five hundred dollars saved by January.
Her mind suddenly went back to the brother that did not seem to like her, "What about your brother?" She queried looking up at Austin, "He doesn't seem too fund of me."
Austin couldn't help but chuckle at Isabella's question, It has was hard for him to miss the semi-hard erection his brother had as he stormed off, he so desperately wished him and his brother did not have the same taste in women, but as he got older he knew that it was just another thing about life he had to accept.
"There's nothing to worry about." Austin reassured Isabella "Aiden just doesn't like meeting new people; he will eventually warm up to you."
Isabella knew that she would be stupid to reject the job that had just been handed to her on a platter of gold, especially when her job search wasn't exactly fruitful.
"I'll accept the offer." Isabella acknowledged.
"Fantastic." Brian Roxwell beamed, "Will you need help moving your luggage tomorrow?" Brian Roxwell questioned.
Isabella thought of the small box room she currently stayed in, there wasn't much space so she didn't have that much belongings, "No, I will be fine." She replied.
"I'll send a car over to pick you up tomorrow morning at eight." Austin Roxwell informed, "Your contract will be already waiting for you to sign, please bring all necessary employment documents, and finally, we'll also be doing a background check on you to make sure that Carly is safe in your care"
Isabella nodded her head and smiled on the outside, however on the inside she was panicking, if Austin ran a background check on her, he would see that she had been blacklisted from multiple financial institutions. She however shook off her worries, the men seemed desperate to find a temporary nanny and it wasn't like she would be running the finances of the house.
***************
The next morning Isabella looked at her packed luggage thrilled, she had managed to pack all her luggage into three large suitcases and a bag pack, the things she no longer needed like her beddings and pillows had been thrown into the dumpster outside, and she had managed to leave her rental contract early without any extra costs. Turns out shared accommodation with complete strangers were trendy with New Yorkers so her landlord was happy to let her go because she could charge the next person more money.
At eight on the dot, a range rover was waiting outside her apartment ready to take her to the Roxwell's family home, and after the chauffer loaded all her luggage into the spacious car boot, he started the luxury car and zoomed down the streets of New York.
About an hour later, the car turned into a gated estate, and the chauffer drove into the land after keying a password into a tall barrier just at the side of the entrance. Isabella gazed at the beautiful estate in awe, she couldn't believe that houses like this still existed in cities like New York.
As thedriver helped her out of the car, she knew her luck was changing for thebetter.
