HARLOW DIDNT SLEEP MUCH that night. her head was swarming with thoughts of the strange voice she heard in the hallway on her way to the hufflepuff common rooms.

the next morning was the beginning of classes, harlow was woken up by a pillow hitting her face. she sat up in her bed quickly, startled and looked over to see the smiling face of pansy.

"hurry up and get ready unless you want to be yelled at by snape again for being late for breakfast." remarked pansy.

harlow groaned and looked over to see daphne struggling to put the tie on her uniform.

"here let me do it," said pansy, walking over to daphne and fixing her tie.

harlow got up from her bed and quickly did her hair and makeup. she walked over to her dresser, she opened it up and groaned once more. her uniform was in it, but not her robe.

daphne laughed, "not a morning person?"

"it's not that, i think i forgot my robe at home." harlow told daphne.

"literally how? we wear it everyday." snickered pansy.

"i don't know."

"well just wear your uniform and send your owl for it after breakfast." suggested pansy.

"that's the first good idea you've ever had." joked harlow.

"suck it potter." pansy laughed.

harlow took off her sweatshirt and shorts she wore to bed the night early and put on her uniform. she put on the white blouse first, then the grey sweater, then the dark grey skirt, and then finally the green and silver tie. she looked at herself in the mirror and focused on the skirt that went down to her knees. she rolled the skirt up until it barely covered her butt.

"better." harlow muttered.

"let's go," said pansy.

harlow sat in the great hall next to daphne and pansy. the students of hogwarts were whispering all around them.

"what happened why is everybody whispering?" harlow asked draco, who was sitting opposite to her in the middle of crabbe and goyle.

"didn't you hear? some first years owl died, apparently under 'suspicious' circumstances." he answered.

harlow's face dropped, she felt sick to her stomach. was it because of the voice she heard last night? the voice she chose to ignore and run away from? she couldn't have felt more guilty for the poor animal who was undeserving of death.
