Chapter 2/ Shaken

Shinobu's POV starting at the meeting

Look at that. Tomioka being cocky and arrogant as always and being too good to talk to us. Although he doesn't look too well. I'm sure it doesn't matter, he was in top notch fighting shape yesterday. He even fought me and was fine.

"Hey Tomioka. What are you doing off to the side like this? Why won't you come and talk to us?"

No response. How rude. Honestly I can't with this arrogant bastard.

"Ara Ara. Are you too good to talk to us? This is why nobody likes you Tomioka"

Honestly I'm not even lying. He doesn't even react though. He doesn't even care about us, must think people "below" him shouldn't have opinions.

"Please be nicer to Tomioka" Mitsuri interrupted my teasing. She's too nice for her own good.

"Shut up Mitsuri. Let her continue." Sanemi said. At least I know he's on my side. I mean who isn't when I'm against Tomioka.

"Don't be so mean to Mitsuri" Obanai stated. Ara Ara of course they will end up together soon. I should probably back out. I don't need to be involved in an argument. Oh? I just noticed Tomioka staring at something in the distance. He looks like he can't believe it or he's really out of it. I look over. It's a person.

"Giyuu!" The peach haired kid yelled.

All of us look at him immediately. He's yelling for Tomioka and by his first name?! Unbelievable, someone is close enough to him for that?

"Who are you?" I actually am pretty interested.

"I'm Sabito" He responds

Giyuu is still staring at him without saying anything.

"How do you know Tomioka?" Mitsuri asks. I'm pretty curious too. This Sabito kid seems to have to think about it before answering.

"I grew up with him. We had the same teacher."

He says pretty carefully. We are all pretty confused. If he had grown up with Tomioka we would have seen or at least heard of him before. Where has he been all this time then? Sanemi looked like he was about to say something just when Tomioka passed out. We are all pretty shocked except for Sabito who looked pretty calm for it, like he saw it coming and caught him gracefully.

"Yuu, are you okay?" He asked, waving his hand in front of Tomioka's face. Yuu? He has a nickname for him too? He checked Tomioka's temperature and then picked him up, bridal style as if Tomioka didn't weigh anything.

"Hey can someone show me where he lives?" He asks calmly

I'm taken out of my shock and reply quickly

"Yeah I can, I can also bring you some medical supplies." After all I am a medical expert.

I show him to follow me and lead him to Tomioka's place. When we get there, Sabito gently places Tomioka in his bed and takes off his Haori and shoes.

"I'll be right back with the medical supplies." I tell him

"Okay" He responds quickly. I hurry to my place for the medical supplies. For what I saw of his state. He probably just has a high fever, and for him to pass out he must have been like that for a few days. Does that mean he fought me in that state. Hell he truly is really strong. I'm gathering the medicine that he'd need and start heading out when I walk into Kanao.

"Hey Kanao"

"Hello" She responds blankly

"I'm putting you in charge of Tanjiro Kamado, Zenitsu Agatsuma, and Inosuke Hashibiri's training after they get back on their feet, to make sure they are in top condition when they get put back on the job" She just nods

"Oh and if anyone looks for me tell them I'm over at Tomioka's place to give him some medicine, I'll be back soon"

She nods again. Honestly this child is hopeless. She does everything I tell her to which isn't the worst thing but she honestly doesn't have a mind of her own.

I'm hurrying back to Tomioka's place. "I'm back" I say as I'm walking in. I see Sabito on the floor kneeling on a pillow next to Tomioka's bed. Tomioka now has a damp cloth placed on his forehead. That's good.

"Thank you for the help....?" oh right I never introduced myself.

"Shinobu Kocho." I said quickly as i look around the room to find a place to put the medical supplies down

""Nice to meet you Shinobu" he seemed to mean what he said. He must be a very honest person.

"Your name was Sabito? Right." I say honestly trying to remember as I place the supplies down.

"Yeah" He seems to like me less already. I wonder what made him change his mind.

He seems kind of unstable now.

Tomioka tensed up in his sleep. Without faltering, Sabito put his hand gently to Tomioka's face and almost immediately Tomioka relaxed.

He said they grew up together earlier. That movement seemed very romantic. Now I really wonder...

"So what are you to that arrogant idiot?" I asked it.

"Arrogant?" He says surprised. What. He doesn't know how arrogant Tomioka is?

"Ara, Ara. You mean he hasn't always been arrogant?" I say still pretty surprised

"How is he arrogant"

Huh which things should I list? Ah, I know. I shouldn't be too mean now though.

"Well i mean he always keeps his distance from us, a lot of the time he won't even talk to us."

Ah that was a little rude. It was fine. It was honest.

"Have you guys ever started the conversation nicely?"

"Of cour-".

I- Am I at fault here? No I can't be. He's the one that's rude. We have started conversations nicely. Wait. Have we?

"Ara, Ara. Maybe not." I am really confused now. I need to change this subject or my smile might fade.

"So what are you to him anyway."

He once again looks like he needs to think about the question before answering. I think I saw him blush a little for less than a second before answering.

"We're bestfriends"

He seemed to answer honestly. He showed no signs of lying. He did show signs of a crush on Tomioka though. How interesting another thing to tease Tomioka about.

"I think you should go now and let him sleep in peace. I'll take care of Giyuu. I'm sure he'll only end up waking in the morning."

Sabito said abruptly

I look at the time. Ah shit he's right.

"Ara, Ara your right it is kind of late. Alright take good care of him. I'll come by to check in the morning"

I leave. I was a little glad to leave. He made me think a little too much. I hurry back home and immediately head to my room to get some rest. Thinking that much gave me something of a headache. I drift off with all these thoughts still circulating through my head.
