Silence

You stared at the ceiling in silence. Uncomfortable and rather boring silence. Santana wasn't shaking you awake to tell you something and Iggy wasn't jumping onto the mattress. You honestly weren't sure if you had ever even fallen asleep, but the next thing you knew it was morning from the sunlight peeking through the window. The barrier trapping you within the photo space prevented you from even breaking the glass. Even if you were found and Kira was killed, you could still be stuck as long as his father wished it.

A few days had passed in that usual unbearable silence, each being relatively the same. Yoshikage would leave breakfast at your bedside table, ready for whenever you woke up. Then you wouldn't see him again until work was over and he'd let you out for a few minutes to eat dinner together in the dining area. He would spend a while just holding your hands, but had yet to go so far as put them in his mouth again. So the day was expected to go primarily the same way.

"Oh, you're already awake."

And perhaps the silence was preferred to Yoshikage's voice.

"Well, I have breakfast." He handed you a plate of Omurice as you slowly sat up and he set a clean pair of his clothes on the edge of the bed. "I have to head to work. If you've finished with the books on that shelf just let me know and I'll bring in some more. Maybe I could set up a TV in here at some point. I have a longer break today, so I'll show up again at lunch time."

At this point, the only way you could hope to get out of this situation, was if you got him to lower his guard enough to stop the usage of the barrier. You forced your mouth into a smile as you ate a bite, hoping it seemed genuine enough, "Th-Thank you so much, Yoshikage. Have a good day at work."

"I appreciate the effort." He planted a kiss on you cheek, "See you soon." You heard the sound of the front door being opened, shut, and then locked.

"Are you trying to trick my son?" Inquired Yoshihiro, his eyes narrowed at you, "Things will only end up worse if you are."

You swallowed the bite of food, "I'm... Uh.... I've just been thinking lately that it would be easier for all of us if I just decided to give this all a shot." You hoped that sounded believable enough. "There's no real hope for escape so I should just try and get used to it."

"Good. Even if you're lying to me, it'll become the truth soon enough anyway." He managed to get the photo to move to the top of the bookshelf.

"But was I really what started his... desire... for hands?"

"Not exactly, that goes to the Mona Lisa. But he was certainly a lot more embarrassed the day he came home after bumping into you." He smiled fondly at the memory, "You were the first real person he had ever been interested in. I was happy just to see him striving for something. He never had a true goal before that point."

"I see..." You set the plate aside, "Then does he have any other interests aside from hands and living a quiet life?"

Yoshihiro had to think for a while before answering, "Cats, maybe? They've always seemed to like him, at the very least. He's mentioned the idea of getting one, but has yet to go through with it."

"Cats... Huh." You weren't sure if there was much you could do with that information. You pulled out another book from the shelf and started reading again. There was nothing else to do anyway.

Yoshikage returned at noon as promised. He had passed by some of your companions and heard worried whispers about you. It irked him that they were so insistent on finding you again, especially after he had gone through so much trouble. Did they not realize how much happier you would be with him? But he knew better than to simply attack them in front of everyone, and it went against his way of life to act like that.
