Elizabeth got me home and I went straight to my room. I couldn't stop thinking about what happened. I will probably never see him again, so why bother? I fell asleep the moment I laid on my bed.
Next morning I felt tired, although I slept a lot. It was already something past twelve. First thing I remembered was last night's events. Darren. I have to understand a fact that I have seen him for only one night and I have to forget about it. We'll probably never meet again. Phone next to me buzzed and showed a name 'El'.
"Morning, Rosey Rose!" - she said in happy voice. In her voice I heard that she was awake for a some time now. "Feeling okay?" - Elizabeth asked.
"I'm good. Tired a bit. What's that happiness for?" - I asked and got out of bed.
"Me and Diego kissed! When you and Caroline went to the bathroom, we were dancing and it happened!" - she was talking so fast and excited. "I can't believe... It was a dream come true." - she continued.
"I am really happy for you." - I smiled.
"What do you think about Darren?" - question came out of nowhere. I waited for a second, not knowing what to say. It was literally one night, her question startled me.
"Um, what? Nothing happened, what do you mean?" - I answered trying to sound unbothered. "We met and he gave me a drink."
"You guys were standing, like, really close. Did you kiss him?" - she was excited again.
"No , we didn't. God, I've just met him!"
"What do you think about him? Honestly, Rose." - Elizabeth noticed my acting. She knew that I was interested in that boy, but I acted unbothered.
"I mean... Honestly, he is hot as hell. Don't tell him that! And... I don't know, I've never been in love before, I mean, this is not love, clearly. He is just pretty handsome and attractive."
"W-what? You haven't?! Well, honestly, that doesn't surprise me. I have to get to know you better. And, he said that you are hot too." - I felt her smile across the phone. She was proud of herself in some way.
"He did?" - I was surprised by her words.
"He did." - Elizabeth answered. "He said that you are hot. You know, you are lucky if he said that about you. We went to highschool together and all girls liked him. I mean, you obviously can see why. Maybe now you are thinking that he was a fuckboy. Well, not exactly. He never liked girls, he didn't even have a girlfriend, I think. But he was a type that used a girl for a day or few. You know, he slept with them or got a bit of pleasure from them. And then he rejected them, not in a rude way, but he did. Don't worry, we were always only friends and he was popular so we hung out sometimes. He never said that a girl is hot, he never even talked about girls, it didn't interest him that much."
I was wondering about what she just said. That couldn't be a lie, but why would he be interested in a girl like me? I hope he didn't recognize me. Just, it was weird for me to know that someone likes me.
"Oh. I mean, he seems nice. But it was a one night thing. We will probably never meet again." - I said calmly. "When did you talk to him?"
"He texted me. I think it was only because of you, so I suppose that he wants to get to know you. That's why I am organizing, as I like to call it, a fun night tomorrow at my place. Yeah, I know, it sounds stupid but trust me, you'll have fun." - she had everything planned already. Only question I was wondering about is, was that her or his idea?
"I'm in." - I have nothing better to do, and he will be there. Only chance to see him, I guess. "Who's coming?"
"Four of us who were in the club, Darren and two of his friends who went to highschool with us and one more girl. It will be great. Hey, yesterday you mentioned that your 21st birthday was soon. When is it?" - she clearly heard my conversation with Caroline.
"It's in 5 days from today." - I tried making it sound like it was not a bit deal.
"Thank God you said that. Okay, now I have to go and I will see you tomorrow. Have nice day, Rose!" - I heard her doing something in the back.
"Bye, see you!" - our call ended.I did nothing all day. There wasn't many days in my life when I could just relax all day. But finally a day came and I was mostly laying in my bed, thinking.
Those green eyes are going to stay in my mind. I never felt like this. Maybe I feel like this only because he is handsome. But why would we be that close, just deeply swimming in our eyes. I wonder why he texted Elizabeth, telling her about me. He said I was hot. I've never seen a boy with a blonde, almost white hair as his was, and those cold hands.
There was a part of me trying to forget about it because it was only my overthinking probably, but a part of me couldn't let it go. It was such a stupid thing, we were in the club and felt connected. Maybe that's how normal world works, maybe people here don't find that weird or make a big thing out of it. Still, I was excited for next day and seeing him one more time....
Before going to Elizabeth's meeting, I took a shower. This was fifth day of me living alone. Alone in a completely new world, running away from my family. I did miss them, but a big part of me didn't want to go back. They didn't forget about me. They are looking for me, maybe in cities closer to our home. Their home, not mine now. My home was this, city Weins and a small apartment near main square. My home was this apartment number 28 on the last floor of a building. I got more used to this.
Hot water was running down my skin. It was running down my hand, and I remembered Darren's touch on my hand. His cold fingers following my arm and moving to my waist. I remembered him pushing me closer to himself, also his cologne which I still could remember.
I finished showering and took my towel to cover my naked body. Bathroom was steamy. As I was wrapping my body in a white towel, I looked at myself in the mirror. I jumped. Fear created horrified look on my face. My reflection wasn't the thing that scared me. It was a little, small heart drawn right next to one I drew the other day. There were two hearts drawn on my mirror.
