It's been two years since the accident, there is not a day mom and I don't think about it.my love for Joey is unconditional no matter what. Mom was a district manager at Claire's and after 17 years she was laid off. after two months of being unable to pay the bills we were evicted from our one bedroom apartment.we basically were thrown out onto the streets and part of having a small family is not having a lot of places to go :-(. (And I couldn't walk at that point either) we basically couldn't afford the therapy I needed.
But , one sweet man changed both of our lives forever! ( MY NEW DAD) his name is Derek O'bryan . First he took us to Olive Garden and we ate like pigs (by accident lol). We told him our story , I also showed him my prosthetic. He let us come home with him and he gave us his bed and he slept on the floor.( so sweet!) a short month later mom and him started dating! My birthday came , and his gift to me was paying for my therapy! Also he hooked me up! Ready! His best friend's son!(he is hawwwwt) his name is Spencer Marksman,20 years old, like me!
-2 years later
Mom and Derek and spencer and I went to Olive Garden.( mom and I thought it was just going to be for Christmas)And they both popped out those rings! And that was the day, December 24 of 1998, that I jumped out of my chair and walked like two steps ( small but huge )and hugged Spencer so hard! See I walked again! I knew I could! And oh of course mom cried because
1.) I walked!
2.) she saw spencer propose to me!
3.) she was proposed to-to!
She said " Lucy see what happens when yo-
( I cut her off) KEEP ON KEEPIN ON!
Even though the people closest to us couldn't see this huge milestone in person, they can keep replaying it in heaven!and the best part is I can walk again!!!!
