We looked at each other for a while, having a mental conversation. Of course we are not telepathic but it still felt like it. I could read him well.
Then the elfin boy began to come around, breaking our connection. Arocraes gave him some water. The boy took a moment to recover, taking deep breaths and seeming to realise I had freed him.
'Th-Thanks' He croaked.
'Anytime,' I responded. 'Um, do you remember your name?'
He seemed to be thinking hard on this one. After about five minutes,he came to a conclusion.
'Elwynn, Silvyr Elwynn' Silvyr said.
'Nice name Silvyr, I'm Fiona Silas and this is Arocraes Zanelor' I replied.
'Hi,' Arocraes said. His face fell for some reason.
Silvyr stood up and looked around the room.
'Yep, still here. I've been trying to convince myself it was just a dream but alas, I'm here, in this damn prison' he hissed. Then he sighed. 'Thank you for freeing me. I don't think I would've ever gotten out'
'Errr, your welcome I guess' I replied, unsure what to say.
There was silence for a minute or two.
'Shall we get some rest? I'm getting tired' Arocraes suddenly interrupted the silence that lay around us.
'Good idea,' I announced, and by Arocraes' body language I could tell he wanted to tell me something.
'Okay' Silvyr agreed, and immediately passed out, he must've been exhausted.
An hour later
Arocraes looked me square in the eye. Silvyr was snoring softly at my feet. I was staring back at Arocraes.
'Silas, we need to talk'
'Okay Zanelor'
'First him, why did you save him?'
'He is the only other of my kind I have seen in my new life. Of course I'm gonna save him and take him on an adventure with me, not leave him to DIE' My voice kinda inflated at the end, of course I didn't mean it to, I was just a little annoyed at his question.
'Alright, alright, I can't relate because...' he trailed off
'What?'
'I'm the last Half-Elf there is'
'Oh Gods, I didnt know, I'm sorry'
'Yeah its fine... can we talk about something else? Like getting free.'
'Okay, how? I certainly wouldn't be able to escape if I led, since I have no sense of direction, but you on the other hand, it's like you have a map in your head, or a Cartographer in there making a map of the maze'
He chuckled slightly. 'Yeah I guess, whatever you say'
