Lacey

College. Everyone says it's so much better than high school. You have more freedom with life, and you're actually learning about what you love.

"Hey, Lacey. Are you ready? Class starts in half an hour." my roommate asks as she knocks on the door. I almost forgot I got lost in thought while curling my hair.

"Yeah! Sorry, I'll be out soon." I say back and finish getting ready.

I finish curling my blonde hair into perfect curls and do my makeup nearly to perfection. I pull on my blue jean capris with a cute rose colored tank top that is blouse material and flowy down the front. I slip on my Toms and walk out of my room, grabbing my bag and phone on the way out.

"What class do you have first?" my roommate Theresa asks me.

"Chorus. We have it together remember?" I ask and she nods.

"I heard the new chorus teacher they just got is a major babe!" Theresa tells me with a smirk on her face, I just roll my eyes and shake my head.

"We're not in the 90s so stop talking like they do on Full House." I laugh and she laughs along with me.

We walk into the building the class is in and find our classroom. We walk in and take a seat side by side in random chairs that are circled around a piano. Once the clock hit 8:30 a man walks into the classroom. And I have to say, Theresa was right, he is a major babe!

"Hello everyone. I'm Professor Ashton Irwin. Mr. Irwin is what I prefer students to call me. Now. Before I take attendance, let me tell you all about myself since I am noticeably young. I am 21 years old. I was born and raised in Australia and there you graduate at the age of 16 and move straight to college from there. Some mates and I are in a band and it's going swimmingly. Um, I decided to move to America to broaden my possibilities so here I am" he says as he giggles a little which I find incredibly adorable.

Mr. Irwin calls attendance and passes out some papers about the class and what will be going on through out the semester. He sits on the piano a little as he looks around and thinks.

"I'm thinking, for the start of class each of you should sing a song or part of a song in front of the class so I can see where you're at vocally. Any volunteers?" he asks.

A girl immediately jumps up I think her name was Natalie or something? She has bleached blonde hair that looks like it's been dyed way too many times, too much make up and boobs that are obviously fake. She walks up to where a microphone is standing and starts singing Blank Space by Taylor Swift. Long story short, she sounded like a dying cat in a hail storm and was cut off by the teacher.

"That was.. Great! Anyone else?" he asks and everyone just looks away, being shy. He soon makes eye contact with me.

Oh no

"How about you? Lacey right?" he asks and I nod. I slowly stand up and walk over to the piano.

"Uh, may I?" I ask and he nods.

I slowly sit down at the piano and start playing a tune of my own. I take a deep breath and close my eyes, concentrating before words start escaping my mouth.

It's not where you come from
It's where you belong
Nothing I would trade
I wouldn't have it any other way
You're surrounded by love and you're wanted
So never feel alone, you will always be
Right where you belong.

I finish the one little verse and look around at the class, they all look amazed especially the teacher. I get up and move quickly back to my seat.

"Wow. That was incredible." Mr Irwin says and a smile grows on my face.

Class soon comes to an end and Theresa and I gather our things before walking out. I glance back at Mr. Irwin to see Natalie walk to and flirt with him. I sigh and leave with my roommate.

"You have a thing for our instructor" Theresa teases.

"What? No I don't! That's completely illegal." I tell her.

"Well not exactly. This is college and you're 18. Kind of completely legal." She says.

"Well it doesn't matter because I don't have a thing for him. Hey, I have an hour before my next class. I'll see you after okay?" I ask, changing the subject. She just sighs and nods, walking off to he next class.

I walk across campus into the library. I look through some books before finding one of my interest and sitting down at a nearby table to start reading.

Time passes and I finish the rest of my classes before going back to my dorm room. I walk in to see Theresa already back and doing some homework.

"Homework already?" I ask.

"Yes! Can you believe it? My psychology class is already shitty!" She laughs and I join in.

I walk into the bathroom and change into my pajamas. I take off my make up and throw my hair up into a messy bun. I walk back into the room and lay in bed, I get on Twitter and decide to tweet even though no-one follows me.

First day of college when well if I do say so myself! Maybe it's not as bad as high school after all! #CollegeLife
