"Liz! Liz! Wake up! It's time for potions!" Hermione yelled from the other side of the girls dormitory.
Everyone was up and getting ready for class. We only had one class today because it was the first day, and mine just happened to be potions.
Potions is my least favourite class, for many reasons. First off, Professor Snape is the teacher. He absolutely hates Gryffindors, and Harry. He hates Harry for no reason at all. Also, Draco is in that class. Draco takes any chance he gets to make fun of me and the trio, and because Snape favourites him, he always gets away with it.
"Elizabeth, come on!" Hermione shouts, pulling me from my daydream.
I drag myself out of bed, get all ready with my robes and tie, and leave with Hermione. We meet Ron and Harry in the common room, and walk to potions together. We get to our seats, and Draco gives me a dirty look, typical. Snape has assigned seating, so of course I'm right next to Draco.
He whispers in my ear, "Bet you're glad you're not expelled mud blood." He drives me insane.
"Just bloody shut up, Malfoy!" He smirks a bit, but not to annoy me, more like he actually finds it funny. As soon as he saw me watching him, he stopped smirking and glared. What's his problem?
My thoughts are interrupted by Snape walking into the room. "Turn to page 394 and read the chapter on amortentia."
I turn to that page and read the chapter.
"I will now be handing out ingredients to make the potion. I will make things easy and you can work with your desk partner."
Oh great, now I'm definitely gonna fail. Snape hands out the ingredients and Draco takes out his cauldron, putting it in the middle of the desk. I set my book in the middle and we take turns putting ingredients in, socialising as little as possible.
When we finish, I take out a piece of parchment to write down what I smell, for Snape wants proof that we made it. I smell food, broomstick polish, and parchment. That reminded me right away of Ron, Harry, and Hermione, no surprise there. I peak at Draco's paper.
He wrote roses, strawberries, and the ocean. I wonder what he's thinking about. He catches me reading his paper and quickly flips it. Whoops.
"Hand in your papers at the front desk. Then you are dismissed."
I walked up beside Draco, and as I put my paper down and turned to leave, I caught him peaking at mine. I laughed a bit.
Classes are officially over for that day, and Snape wasn't as grouchy as I thought he would be.
I stop at the common room, grab my favourite book, and then I walk through the halls to the astronomy tower, where I go to just relax. I open the doors and sit at the railing for a while, just staring at the grounds. After about 20 minutes of just staring, I decided to read the book, like I intended to when I first came up.
I open up the book, and go to my other universe. When I'm reading I can just become part of the story. I can be a different person, any person I want to be. Where I can go pick strawberries, or run in fields of roses, or sit on the beach and watch the ocean, I can be stress free and happy.
I jump when I hear the door behind me open. My hand goes straight to my wand and I turn around.
"Hey." Just Harry.
"You scared me!" He looks at my hand on my wand that I'm just now releasing.
"I'm sorry. I didn't mean too. Ron, me and 'Mione are studying in the common room and wanted you to come, then we realized we hadn't seen you since potions class, and we got worried, so we went looking for you."
Oh no! Potions! I have detention right now in potions! No wonder Draco was being nice to me, he wanted to take my mind off of detention so I'd miss it!
"Harry, I have to go!" I run to Dumbledore's office, leaving Harry stunned.
I run into the office and Draco's already there.
"Oh, Miss Rell, perfect timing. I've just been informed that you missed detention in potions today. Care to explain?"
I stared at Draco for a second, raging, before looking to Dumbledore.
"I'm so sorry Professor, I was distracted today and I completely forgot! I really wasn't purposely skipping, I came here as soon as I remembered!" I explained as fast as I could, hoping I wouldn't get in trouble.
"I'll believe you this time, Miss Rell, but if this happens again, I'll have to punish you." Dumbledore started at me doubtfully.
"It won't happen again Professor, thank you for you time."
I turned around with Draco and we exited the office. As soon as we were out of earshot I bloody lost it.
"Why would you snitch Malfoy? I watched you leave potions too! You purposely were nice to me so I would forget about detention! Why, Draco?" My face was red and I was fuming, but I was so mad.
"Did you just call me Draco?" He looked surprised.
"I guess so, why does it matter?" I was actually curious as to why he thought it was a big deal.
"It's, um, no reason." He said. I smiled, trying to hide it.
"Well, I have to go. I'm sorry, ok?" Did Draco Malfoy just apologize to me?
"Ok." I was still to mad, and confused, to forgive him. I need to talk to Hermione.
I run to the common room and find Harry, Ron, and Hermione at one of the common room tables, studying, like I expected.
"Liz, where were you?" Hermione asks, but they all look up for the answer.
"I was reading in the astronomy tower when Harry reminded me that I have detention in potions, for threatening Draco. I missed it, so I went to Dumbledore's office to explain, but Malfoy had already snitched on me. I have detention still tomorrow and the day after, but I'm not in trouble." They all looked relieved. I didn't know they would worry about me that much for being gone a couple hours, but hey, what are friends for?
