Now I went to see the restoration of the monarchy in England in 1660. It marked the return of Charles II as king (1660-85) following the Commonwealth era of Oliver Cromwell. The bishops were sent back to Parliament, which established a strong Anglican doctrine. The period, which included the reign of James II (1685-88), was marked by the expansion of colonial trade, the English-Dutch wars, and the revival of the game and literature.
There I saw restoration of and especially the reign of Charles II who was the son of Charles I was done completely to restore the monarchy but there is still this disagreement between parliament and the king and this conflict between Protestantism especially now I look at the first James and the first Charles I focus more on conflicts between Catholicism and Protestantism. In Britain it is the King or Parliament so I know I have come according to Stuart now I am looking at Charles II so the kings of restoration here Charles II and James II when I see US history there are colonies to restore this is the time when New Netherland became New York and all these Charles II and James II were kings at the time they were his brothers and I could see that the throne went to the brother of Charles II rather than the son of Charles II so Charles II is one of my favorite kings I mean just one of those entertainers I know that I might be less likely to get some kind of test but still very exciting now Charles came back from exile in 1660 he actually lived in the Netherlands I use to see Dutch Ships and Flags that use to come from the Dutch Republic so in 1660 he was invited to also because the people were tired of the purity by a few clever Protestants so they called for the king to regain his kingship and Charles II was known as a happy king and a lovable man who was as kind as Napoleon in the sense that he was and was not just playing in his name. Puritan is like all actions rather than equal and counter-insensitivity there is nothing about Charles II a very small form of blasphemy still this tension because Parliament has its own rules but the King is still in power its executive authority in some way the laws will be enforced so Charles II issued a proclamation of entertainment which basically said he would not enforce laws against Catholics and dissenters so what Charles does here and become Emperor will avoid the problems his father and grandfather had said see whatever Christian religion want I will not confuse right now that will not be the case with other Anglican Protestants who want to see the Anglican Church as a legitimate religion, Europe at this time is experiencing a Catholic resurgence that I need to remember that Louis XIV was king of France and when he became king there was limited power . The power is that the Catholic awakening was not required to tolerate the Protestants so it will not go so Europe is facing this Catholic uprising but at the moment what I see in Britain is this deeply entrenched Protestantism when I look at today that Britain has this strange relationship with Europe so they go to the other side that Protestantism is getting stronger now Parliament is currently passing tests or action to prevent potential dangers to recusants Pope ish now remember Pope ish pays for all these terms to call Catholics when one does not want to use the word Catholic I can say they were non-Christians in general so what actually happened in the text applies to all office bearers now does not say everyone should be part of the Church of England but if ones want to be a person in this country if one want to have a political office a Public Service or anything like that I mean that this could be the kind of people who teach public service so one should know what it's like if one want to be a civil servant one must also have Communion in the Church of England and this is what is known as a religious test so one will test one's faith would take the meal of the Anglican Church now if one is in private business and don't have to do anything in government nothing great one don't want to be a military officer but if one want to be in government one would have to have fellowship with the Church of England so what happens here if one look back and one know the first James and the first Charles insisted on religious equality and during the Protectorate he had Protestant tolerance now Charles II begins to see through the test he formed a church with legal rights and private life one know if privately one is what one want to be now when one go to James II one will see that James II introduces the preferences of catholic law which creates another controversy between parliament and the monarchy but Charles II is not that far away but he is not very strict about some of the laws passed by parliament one may know about what one want to remember the tests in the US constitution say there will be no religious trials in public office is fine no matter which religion in the US does not mean one should be a Christian or one have to be some kind of Christian or something like that in order to work in a public office there are no public degrees Office in the United States up to religious work so the reason they call it is that no religious exam following the exam works because at that time one had to be a committed member of the Church of England making a meal to hold the Office now another thing is happening they are trying to make things a little more modern so the monarchy had previously got their salary paid by the kings so the people paid their money to the king Parliament will continue to understand that and get into what one see Charles II currently having a very good lifestyle he and his court had entered the monarchy but the thing is that Charles had many children he had many wives he had about 14 children from about seven different women but the problem was not in these legal children. It is also portrayed as having sex with as many women as possible rather than ruling the world. Charles is trying to reach out to Louie against the Dutch and the Dutch were enemies of the British at this time because they were competing in trade because they were the largest trading industries in Europe at the time so Britain and France were interested in shutting down the Dutch so they became friends now another thing Charles had to support all these wrong ladies. firstly Charles will get money from Louie by joining his wars with the Dutch so Charles will bring the British and especially the Army into this war against Louie and the Dutch so they will double the Dutch team and there is another agreement on which other name was the name of the treaty that was hidden and that name reminded Louie to be a devout Catholic I mean Louie really loves the Catholic Church so part of this agreement was that Charles II w they were going to convert to Catholicism so Louie wants to conquer Catholicism and 'Whatever was put in so Charles died without a legal problem and on his deathbed it happened to him that now is a good time to convert to Catholicism and in fact this was a big thing among the nobles at this time it was like going back to Catholicism. Louie if there is a good time I can get a Catholic priest here to let him do this and repent and I think he is probably bringing a long confession where he is freed from the sins he has committed in his court and dies and that is the only Charles II now won by his brother James II who does not wait until his death bed to convert to Catholicism and the next segment which will be a glorious change.
