Karlie had felt furious ever since hanging up from her call with the private investigator, and finding out that Scott and Scooter wanted to destroy Taylor, who had done nothing wrong. And she was even more mad at Joe, a trusted person in Taylor's life who was betraying that trust daily, feeding rumours, lies and private information to Scott and Scooter.
Before speaking to Taylor, Karlie needed to have a plan in mind. It was difficult thinking straight, though, as there was a lot on Karlie's mind. Not only did she just hear about this sick plan to destroy her precious girl, but she could also not stop thinking about the club night, where she and the singer had locked lips. Every time she tried to think logically, her mind wandered off to that image, that feeling. She had never felt this way after kissing Joshua, whom she was, luckily, now divorcing.
It was clear to Karlie now that she felt something for Taylor that was more intense than a friendship. She only hoped that the feeling was mutual. It had felt like that. With that in mind, she shot Taylor a text:
[11.24 AM] Hi Tay, hope you slept well! We need to talk, there's some stuff I need to get off my chest.. You down? X Kar.
It didn't take too long before a reply came in:
[11.38 AM] Hey!! I just woke up, a little headache still, haha. Let's meet this afternoon, around 4? Can't wait to see you, xx Tay.
With that, Karlie's mood skyrocketed and she felt happy, though a little nervous, that she was seeing the girl who she felt so much for in a few hours. First, she needed to figure out how to break the bad news to her, and that was not going to be easy.
[...]
Karlie had always had a special appreciation for fashion, but a thing for comfort as well. So as she was on her way to Taylor to talk, she looked down at her outfit, and was happy. With the nerves she had flowing through her body, Karlie was happy that she didn't pick a restrictive outfit just for the sake of looking 'nice'.
She was now set on a plan to take down the Scooter/Scott duo, but had to tell Taylor what they were doing first. Just as she was starting to get angry again just thinking about those two men, she arrived at Taylor's apartment. She rang up and the door was opened by a smiling Taylor.
"Hey, come on in Kar!" After separating last night without saying goodbye, meaning that their last contact had been locking lips, it was now unclear what to do when coming in. Karlie thought to herself, Do I hug? Kiss on the cheek? Nothing? She decided on a quick hug and said, "Hiii Tay!", but the exchange was undeniably a little awkward, and only piled on the nerves.
Karlie could sense that Taylor felt the tension too, as she started doing the thing she always did when nervous: rambling. She went on and on: "Sooo, good to see you... I got my assistant to get us some drinks, but didn't know what you wanted, so I got smoothies, coffee, juices or champagne... basically all the drinks we could possibly need. I had fun last night, did you?" Before Karlie could get an answer out, the word vomit continued: "Yeahh, I really had fun, though it was a shame about the fight at the end, and being separated from each other as a group.. Did I already ask you what you wanted to drink? Gosh, you want something else, something to eat maybe?"
Karlie said, "Stop", and looked Taylor in the eyes. "You're doing it again. The rambling. Calm down", and she smiled. Karlie put her hands on Taylor's shoulders and said: "I would love a smoothie, but I'll get it for us. Why don't you try to breathe and sit down, I'll grab the drinks from the kitchen." Taylor smiled, her cheeks got red, and she said, "thanks Kar, sorry for rambling." Karlie gave her a smile again, and said: "No sorry needed hun, it's all good. Now sit down!!"
Taylor indeed had sat down when Karlie came in with two strawberry smoothies from the kitchen, and looked a lot calmer. "I don't know how you do it Kar, you always know when and what to say to calm me down!" Karlie replied: "Well, it's just because I know you so well", and smiled. Just like that, the nervous air blew away and a flirty scene was set. Though this was something both of them really enjoyed, it wasn't the time for that. Karlie had stuff to tell Taylor.
She took a sip of her smoothie and said, "So Tay, I came over for a reason today. I have some stuff to tell you today, and it's not all good. Though I also have a plan to fix some of it, but more on that later." Taylor already looked really worried, but listened closely, and nodded.
Karlie sighed: "First of all, I'm divorcing Josh. I got the papers in my mail today, finally, and am going to mail them away soon. I'm done with all his bullshit and want to be free from him and his family." Taylor suddenly didn't look as worried, and tried to comfort Karlie: "Oh honey, that must be hard. I'm here, you know that. It's going to be over soon." She put an arm around Karlie, immediately feeling goosebumps. The attraction the two women had was undeniable by now. Karlie saw in Taylor's eyes that though Taylor sympathised with her, she had some form of relief too. As an added bonus, she really enjoyed the intimate moment the two were having, but remembered that there was more serious business to talk about.
"So, apart from that, I have some other stuff to tell you." Before Karlie could continue, Taylor got a phone call. She picked up, stating that it was Joe. Karlie felt flames coming out of her eyes when Taylor picked up the phone and said: "Hi darling!"
When Taylor hung up the phone, she said: "He wants to pick me up at 7." Karlie stood up, and Taylor could see that she was mad. "Wait, Kar, why are you mad? What's wrong?"
Apart from being very jealous that Taylor had just called him "darling", she was also furious that the very man was mentioned again. "It's him. He's the problem." Karlie said this with anger in her voice. "He's not good for you."
"Wait, what? Where did all the supportive energy go Karlie? Why are you so damn angry?" Taylor started to get a little worked up too. She was happy things were a little calmer between her and her boyfriend, and now Karlie came here and stirred things up.
The two women looked at each other in anger for a moment, before Karlie opened her mouth again: "He doesn't want you! He just wants to be famous. I know it, he's not good for you!"
The singer snapped: "Geez, you're just angry that I still have a boyfriend when you're becoming a divorcée. Can you not believe he just wants me for me?! Too bad for you"
The words hit Karlie hard. She felt tears forming, knowing that her excitement to see Taylor had played out the wrong way. She didn't tell the news about Scooter, Scott and Joe in the way that she had planned, and now they of all people were fighting. She couldn't stop herself from raising her voice, though it broke a few times, showing that Karlie was getting emotional.
"He's scheming with Scooter! He wants to ruin you for a few acting jobs, and you can't see it!" Karlie was full-on crying at this point. "I only want the best for you Tay, always have, always will."
Taylor was worked up and shouted back: "No, I don't believe you!"
Karlie turned around, tears streaming down her face, and got up to leave. "Sorry to disappoint you Tay, I only wanted to help you see the truth. Of course I get that he wants you. It's what I wanted." With that, she went on her way, out of Taylor's apartment. This was not how she had planned, or dreamed, it.
