Izuku had remained on the ground silently, his gaze locked to the concrete. A heavy rain had brewed in the distance, droplets hitting his hair. The cold water brought chills to his body, but he pushed it away. He felt empty in that current moment. Lost. A villain as a fated pair was not something he had planned. Not once did he receive the chance to speak before the stranger had left. Was he not good enough?
He rose slowly from the ground before the rain picked up. It took little time to become enveloped in the liquid. His clothes stuck to his frame and his hair was forced closer his head. The normal shimmer among his emerald eyes had seemed to fade as he stepped from the alleyway, ignoring the looks of concern and disbelief the civilians cast his way. None of it mattered. The constant murmurs were blocked out by the thunder rumbling overhead as Izuku continued toward his house. His goal had been to find the stranger, yet the meeting had left nothing beside a hole. It left a lingering pain that felt unbearable the more his mind focused on the stranger. The red string. Everything.
Walking felt like a chore after sometime. He had lost track of his thoughts along the way, leading to him getting confused on the direction. A heavy sighed left him as he leaned against a brick building, his head facing upward to allow each drop to cascade his features. His eyes burned from the tears while the rain washed his sorrow away.
"Izuku?" A familiar voice drew his gaze as Izuku stopped breathing momentarily. Bakugou was his closest friend, yet here he was almost wishing his friend was not in sight. He didn't have the energy to speak about the situation and knew Bakugou would pry. "Izuku... What are you doing out here in the rain? You'll get sick idiot!"
"I don't really care right now. Just leave me alone..." Izuku's voice cracked along his statement, earning him a scowl from Bakugou. Before long an umbrella was over the two, Bakugou's shoulder leaned into Izuku's.
"Well, I care. Your mother would kill me if you got sick, understood?" There was a slight nod in response before Bakugou raised his tone slightly. "So, want to tell me what you're doing out in the rain?"
"Not really. I just ran into a problem, but it's solved..."
"You're a terrible liar Izuku. What happened?" Slowly Izuku met his friends gaze, the once seemingly happy expression cast into one of dread.
"I just... I found out something and am not sure what to think..."
"What did you find?"
"You remember how everyone is connected by fate? I found my fated pair, only he pushed me away because of current issues..." Izuku fell silent as he held a firm gaze. There was tears gathering in his eyes, but he couldn't find the energy to care. "I want an opinion, so be honest."
"Okay? What is it?"
"Let's say a hero in rising is fated with a villain... Will it ever work out?" Those words gave Bakugou the answers he sought. His eyes fell slightly, sorrow washing over them as he pulled Izuku into a hug. He could feel the smaller males trembling.
"Izuku, you're strong. Sometimes fate does things for a reason, like pairing the two of you. I wouldn't abandon you, ever. If loving a villain would make you happy, I would support you. It would effect being a hero, but it always come to a choice. You have to decide which path you desire. Will you stay a hero and forsake the person you're meant to be with? Or will you go to them, no matter what it costs. Being a hero is an honor, but not a necessity. Maybe you're meant to be this villains hero." Bakugou felt a smile form on his face as Izuku seemed to brighten up a bit. He gave a weak chuckle, his head leaned into Bakugou's shoulder.
"But what if I go to him and the heroes find out. They'll kick me out!" Izuku frowned slightly before he felt Bakugou's hold on his tighten slightly.
"No matter what you choose, I will support you. Do what makes you happy and I will do what I can to keep that happiness afloat, understood? You're my family, so it's my job to look out for you."
"Thank you Kacchan. You always say the right things."
"Of course. I am the best after all!" Izuku chuckled as his smile returned, his body pulling away from Bakugou.
"You really are. I have someone to go find, so talk later." Bakugou nodded as he chimed in once more.
"Come over in the morning. Your letter should arrive tomorrow. You'll have to let me meet this mystery dude eventually. Until then, stay safe and do whatever makes you happy." Izuku nodded before he took off, his gaze locked on the thread. It was dim, but still remaining visible. Smiling to himself, he followed where it led, his heart fluttering in his chest. This was his choice. He was positive of this decision. His heart felt light as he felt the growing excitement. Today was the first step he took into his own path. Even if it denied the wishes of society, he was told by someone important to seek his happiness. The stranger was that happiness, he just knew it.
