Keegan-

Junior year had just started and I already wanted it to be summer. Lacrosse try outs were during the first week of school and that was the only thing I am excited for. Of course I am also excited to see my friends again.

I walked through the halls and smirked at all the freshman gawking at me.

Maybe this year wouldn't be too bad, I thought.

Of course I wouldn't go for a freshman, especially in this town, but I liked knowing that I could easily get one underneath me.

I entered the locker room and felt instant relief and comfort. This had been my home for the last two years. The place where I could get all of my anger out without getting in trouble.

My best friend, Kyle Wright, was already getting his uniform and gear from Coach Dean and putting it into his new locker. Kyle saw me when he turned around and ran over to his best friend where we gave each other a bro hug.

"Hey Keeg! Long time no see." Kyle said while laughing, knowing they had just been at a party together a few days before.

"Yeah, yeah. I see that my locker is right beside yours which is a first." I said, while fumbling with the lock.

"I know! I am pretty sure coach did that on purpose that way we don't have to shout across the locker room anymore." Kyle laughed while shutting his locker.

"Will you wait for me to get all my gear? We can head to the lunch room after that. I hope we have a few classes together." I said. Ever since junior high we seemed to have almost every class together except one or two. That's the main reason we became friends in the first place, other than lacrosse, of course.

"Yeah for sure." Kyle replied and sat down on a bench in front of their lockers.

I headed over to Coach Dean to get my gear and hoped to God that I didn't have to listen to a rant about leadership and commitment again.

"Hey Coach, I'm here to get my stuff." I said.

Coach Dean had a stocky build and was shorter than most of the guys in the locker room. His hair was blonde and curly and his eyes were a dark blue. His eyes were the first thing people noticed about him when they looked due to his tan complexion. He is also fairly young since he got the job straight out of college and has been here ever since.

"Hey kid, all your gear and clothes are in your bag over there." He said, motioning to a line of bags. "You are still number 3." Coach Dean then went back to looking over his list and sorting through jerseys.

I picked up the same bag that I had last year and threw it into my locker without even sorting through it. I'm going to be in here after school for try outs anyways, I thought.

Kyle was going through Twitter when he realized his friend was already done.

"Hey Keeg?" Kyle asked.

"Mhm?" I grunted.

"Have you heard about the new kid? Apparently he played lacrosse at his old school and he was the captain." Kyle said while they both left the locker room.

"Kyle, what are you trying to say here buddy?" I started to laugh.

"I'm just saying you might have to try extra hard to beat this kid for the captain spot." Kyle retorted.

I secretly knew he was right and it made my view on try outs much more sour. Tryouts were really for freshman and new comers. If you previously played, coach was looking for a potential captain and his starters, the rest would still practice with us during the season but hardly play in games.

I had been looking forward to try outs until Kyle told me about this new kid. All I wanted was to go to try outs and act like it was a normal practice but now I couldn't even do that.

Kyle and I got to the lunch room 30 minuets before school would even start. Everyday we always put our gear away in the locker room before school started, which caused us to get to school super early.

We sat down at our usual lunch table where a few cheerleaders and lacrosse boys already were. One of them being my "girlfriend" Vicky.

Vicky turned to see Kyle and I and jumped up from her seat to embrace me in an uncomfortable hug.

"Keegan! I've missed you so much!" Victoria said, after kissing me on the cheek and then on the mouth.

She then looked at Kyle and acted as if he wasn't there.

What a bitch.

The only reason that she didn't like Kyle is because he had once told her he didn't find her attractive. Again, what a bitch.

I truly wanted to break up with Victoria. I wasn't in love with her, she wasn't in love with me and yet here we are. It just didn't make sense to me at all. The sad thing is that she is the only hot girl in their entire town, so I would just have to make it work.

I knew that she cheated on me and she knew I cheated on her. Hell, everyone knew. The only difference is that I never got jealous when I would see love bites on her or when she would blatantly hit on guys at games in front of me. She, however, would try and find out who the girl was and ruin her social life. Hence the reason I slept with girls from other towns.

"Yeah, I've missed you too vic." I said, as I smiled at her. An empty smile, but a smile nonetheless.

Once they had all sat down at the table, the girls started to gossip about other girls and the guys talked about what and who they did over the summer break. Kyle began talking about his fling with a senior which made all the boys crack up in disbelief.

"I swear! You can ask Keegan, he has seen her!" Kyle protested.

I looked at all the guys and nodded in agreement. "Yes, Kyle indeed got with a senior."

Kyle had hung out with her most of the summer break leaving me to hang out with Victoria, which was only worth it in the night time.

This, of course, caught Vickys attention even though she knew the girl in question. Vicky then did what Vicky does best. Or worst actually, it never worked on me. She tried to make me jealous.

She leaned over to the girls in what seemed like a secretive way and said, "Hey, have y'all heard about the new kid?"

This, apparently, was a very hot topic to which all the girls lit up with excitement.

"His name is Deven Taylor and he is the hottest guy in the school. He dumped his last girlfriend the day he moved because 'he couldn't be faithful in a town like this'." One of Vickys friends informed us.

So this is who I have to compete with? A douchebag?

Vicky turned to me to see if this had effected me in any way. It hadn't as usual so she took it up a level.

"How big do you think it is? Have you seen how tall he is?" Vicky said, while practically drooling.

All the girls chirped in with little comments such as, "I would climb him like a tree" and "I bet he is ripped as fuck".

Kyle looked up at me and rolled his eyes which I mirrored back. After two unfaithful years, Vicky should know that nothing gets under my skin at this point. She could do anything she wants and I simply would not care.

I was suddenly ripped out of my thoughts by Kyles facial expression. The whole table had gone quiet as well.

"Holy fuck." Kyle gasped while looking behind me.

"Kyle, you look ridiculous what are y--" I stopped mid sentence when I turned around and saw exactly who he was looking at.

Deven Taylor.

Quite possibly the hottest guy I had ever seen and he was looking right at me.
