Chapter 3

Who ever said that college was going to be much better than high school was sorely mistaken. I had to take a couple of General Education classes this semester and I can safely say they were all boring. I've been a month into my first semester, and it feels as if I am just repeating things I learned in high school. Nothing was stimulating my mind from these classes. The only two classes that I enjoyed was the class on vocal training and my self-dense class that I am taking with Marco.

I had no clue how I let Marco talk me into taking the self-defense class with him. I mean, I am not one for physical activity but getting the ability to learn how to take down guys twice my size is sure fun. Everything has been going great so far though. The other plus side of college is being able to check out all the eye candy. Sometimes I still get hesitant to approach or even look but I then remind myself that it is okay to be me.

Who knew the hot spot for very fine-looking man on this campus was the library? I kept trying to focus on my assignment for my statistics class, but I keep getting distracted so easily. I looked at the timer on my screen when I saw that it was almost two in the afternoon. Marco should be here soon. I knew his class for today gets out at 2:30. We are supposed to grab some food after his class and then head back to the apartment. I probably would have gone home by now, but I did not want to take the bus home.

Marco is the only one who knows how to drive out of the both of us. Since I didn't have anyone to teach me, I never got the chance to learn. Marco did try to teach me in our senior year, but I just couldn't get the hang of it. And after almost crashing his car; Marco decided that its best if I didn't drive. His exact words when we ended the lesson was, "We don't want people dying when you are on the road".

I was just about to make another sad attempt at studying when someone slid into the booth sitting across from me. As I looked up at the stranger, I couldn't believe how handsome he was. And then he smiled, and I felt as if my hurt fluttered for a second. His eyes where this piercing ocean blue. You could see the crow's feet from his eyes, as if all this man did was smile. "Excuse me, did you hear me?"

I broke from my thoughts to realize that he has been say something. "Sorry no, I was umm... still thinking about this equation that I was working on. Can you repeat what you said please?"

All the stranger did was smile, "No worries. I was asking if it was okay if I sit here with you? There doesn't seem to be any other open tables."

I looked around and noticed that the library had gotten busier. "Yeah, no problem. I'll be leaving soon when my friend gets here anyways."

"Thank you.... And sorry to hear that your leaving. Was hoping we could talk for a bit."

I blushed; I couldn't believe this man was openly trying to flirt with me... Well I hope he is. If not, this would really suck. I am horrible at reading signs; sometimes I wish I could read people more easily. "Well, I'm free until my friend gets here so there shouldn't be anything from stopping you to talk with me until he gets here." I put my laptop into my bag wanting to give this guy my full attention. It's not like I was going to be able to study anyways. "So.... Is this your first semester here?"

He chuckled, "No, it's my third semester. I'm guessing you're a freshman?"

"You would be correct there."

He leaned in a little bit closer to me, "Are you enjoying all the freshmen fun? Loud dorm room parties? Events on campus?"

I shook my head, "Nope. I am actually staying off campus?"

He relaxed back into his seat crossing his arms against his chest, "Really? Now what made you do that? Didn't you want to get the full college experience?"
