After the intial buzz of a new school year died down, everyone started to meet people and already some people were starting to date others. Him being a socially awkward teen had only started to meet some people. One of his new friends was Jesse. He was about the only one so far that could match his weirdness, moment for moment. At one time he even associated his friendship with a quote from,"The Perks of Being a Wallflower." The way the quote went was,"let's be psychos together." In fact, he felt that line from that lovely story could define their relationship.

Eventually he starts to make more friends. First was Elijah. He was alwasy good for a laugh. After him was another Elijah. What drew him to Elijah was his introverted personality. The next person was Harry. Harry was also reasonably introverted, but he also liked him becuase he was really funny.

Even though he was reasonably introverted around new people, he only seems to be introverted at first to just see how people react to certain things. It's not in a creepy way but in the way that he wants to see how to handle something they say to him. Even though he does this he still finds it hard to handle social situations.

In turn, him being weird in social places puts him into a bad place when it comes to getting a girlfriend or romantic relationship of any kind. The only way he managed to get a girlfriend in middle school was when she was dropping major hints and he didn't even recognize it for three weeks. When he finally did manage to rack up the nerves to ask her out it was through text but she said yes! This was a major thing in his life. From then on all he did was with her. In fact she was the first girl he had ever invited to his house. He took $60 out of his life savings, which was a total of $120, so he could buy a dvd player so he could watch movies with her at home and they could cuddle and hold hands.

As it turns out Rachel didn't feel that Riley was connected enough to her verbally becuase he didn't know how to talk in a conversation with a girl regardless who that girl was to him, whether it be his girlfriend or a girl friend that he's known for years.

Even though he was this kid that was your average awkward teenager he was more than "average." He has secrets and memories so deep in his mind even he doesn't want to remember.
