Eliza groggily got out of bed, holding her head which was pounding due to the headache she had. It was currently one in the morning and she couldn't sleep. Her body ached, her nose was stuffy, her throat was burning and her head was killing her.

It was getting so bad she was tempted to wake up her husband. But she didn't. Alexander had been complaining the last few weeks about how stressed he was with work, he barely slept. It wouldn't be fair of her to disturb him.

She tip-toed down the hall to the staircase. Her head was pounding so badly she grabbed the railing for support. Her limbs ached as she slowly moved down the stairs. She arrived at the kitchen and poured herself a glass of water.

Eliza sat down and slowly took a sip from the glass, her hands shaking. She was freezing. She began to wish she had brought her robe with her. "I'll just go upstairs and get it," she murmured to herself and made her way back up the stairs. Due to the pain shooting through her body she ended up tripping. She tried to get back up but it simply hurt too much.

The sound of foot steps made her force her head up. Alexander stood at the top of the stairs looking down at her with concern. He quickly made his way down to his wife's side.

"Betsey what's wrong? Are you okay?" He helped lift her up. She clutched to the railing with one hand and put the other on Alex's shoulder for support. She shook her head.

Alexander put a hand to Eliza's forehead. She was burning up. "You have a fever," he stated, pulling his hand away, "You should've woken me up."

"I didn't want to disturb you, you've been so stressed with work lately, barely sleeping and all. Dealing with your sick wife is the last thing you would need right now," Eliza said softly. She looked down at her feet.

"You wouldn't be disturbing me, I don't mind taking care of you, you're my wife and that makes you a priority. Now tell me what's wrong?"

So Eliza told him about her headache and body aches and her irritating stuffy nose. Alex helped her back to bed and went to fetch some water, he also damped a cloth to lay on her forehead. He made his way back to the room where Eliza was already almost passed out.

Alex put the damp cloth over her forehead and shook her lightly to wake her up. Eliza wearily sat up, looking over.

"You should finish this before you go to sleep, okay?" He handed the cup over to his wife she carefully brought it to her lips, taking small sips.

"It's hurting my throat," Eliza croaked out after a few more sips.

"I'll get some honey, try and finish the water for now. We'll call the doctor in the morning." Alex walked back to the kitchen.

Eliza leaned back against the head board. A smile played on her lips, she was lucky to have Alexander, who cared so much to take care of his sick wife.
