My brain while I was writing this 👁️👁️

It was a little before midnight and Eliza Schuyler was cleaning up the small coffee shop she worked at. She enjoyed the nights she spent at work, the sounds of the quiet music and the smell of coffee.

It was now just before midnight and she was finished cleaning. The sound of a bell echoed through the shop signifying someone had entered. Eliza turned around to see who it could possibly be. A man with reddish-brown hair had entered the store. He looked extremely tired, with dark circles under his eyes and a frown on his face.

"Oh sorry were you closing..." He spoke, "I can leave."

Eliza gave a sigh and walked over to the register. "No it's fine. What can I get you?" She asked.

"Just a black coffee would be fine," He responded, looking through his wallet for cash.

Eliza entered the order and rang up the total. "That will be $2.70."

The man handed over a ten-dollar bill, "Keep the change." Eliza looked at the bill skeptically, from the look in his eyes she could tell he needed an act of kindness, something to brighten his day.

"Actually, this is on the house. You seemed stressed and you need this." She handed back the bill.

"You can tell?" He groaned taking the money back.

"Yeah, if you don't mind me asking, why?"

The man shrugged and leaned against the counter. "Just college. I signed up for a lot of classes. I thought I could handle it. I mean I can handle it, but not as well as I thought."

Eliza was a little shocked by the fact he was in college. That meant he was around her age, though he didn't look like it. "Have you thought about dropping any courses?" Eliza offered.

"I mean I guess, but then it will seem I can't handle it and people will see me as a quitter."

"Why does it matter so much what other think?"

"I don't know." He shrugged.

"Can you do me a favor?"

"Uh sure?"

"Next semester, don't take as many classes, give yourself a break."

"I'll try Ms..." He looked at her name tag, "...Eliza."

"Good for you Mr...?"

"Hamilton, Alexander Hamilton."

"Well Mr. Hamilton let me start on that coffee for you."

Alexander nodded and took a seat. After a few minutes Eliza brought the coffee over.

"Thank you, Eliza. For the free coffee and the nice chat."

"It's not a problem, I hope everything works out with your classes." She looked down and played with the hem of her apron.

"Yeah, I hope to see you around." Alexander waved and was on his way.

Eliza leaned against the counter and went to re-clean the coffee machine.

In a matter of months Alexander had become a regular at the shop, his daily visits would never fail to make Eliza's day.

After finishing his coffee, Alexander tipped the cup over to put it in the trash can. He noticed writing on the back of it. A phone number which was signed off by none other than Eliza.

kk this was short but idrc, bye bye
