She started drinking again
because the taste you left on her tongue
was unforgettable
unforgiveable
She started drinking again
because the last time you left
you never turned back
to tell her she was worth something
She started drinking again
because it was easier to fall asleep
when the voices in her head
were hushed by the miasma of vodka
Although you used to be her addiction
she'll stay up all night drinking and writing
drowning herself in alcohol
to stop herself from etching her sadness into her own skin
to help her forget about the beauty you made her feel
to stop herself from begging you to come back
And even when the vodka burns her insides
it helps just enough to melt a hole through the pain
because every time she hears your name
she cannot help but feel mixed up into an amalgamation of emotion
and she would rather have a blackout accompanied by a hangover
than futilely stare at her hands, trying to forget that she wasn't okay
