THE BREAKUP ( PART ONE )

ariana waited anxiously for harry to arrive. she knew telling him to come over was probably a mistake, but she needed to talk to someone outside of her friend group. someone who wouldn't lie to her to make her feel better. she trusted harry to be comforting but also blunt enough to help her figure it out. and deep down, she also wanted to fix things with him, maybe apologize for how she'd acted. he deserved better.

"hi... thank you for coming." ariana said shyly while harry took off his jacket. he noticed ariana's tear stained cheeks and he immediately felt the urge to hold her in his arms, but he didn't, because he was supposed to be mad at her. harry was trying to, but she made it really hard.

"of course. are you okay?" even though it was a simple, yes or no, question, ariana felt a lump in her throat start to form and tears threatened to spill.

harry soon realized she was about to break down and he instinctively wrapped his arms around her, deciding to swallow his pride for ariana's sake. getting rejected by her had hurt tremendously, but he knew he'd put her in an impossible situation by making her choose. he'd been incredibly selfish and he regretted it more than anything else. so harry made a promise to himself to make it up to her and be there when she needed him to.

harry had spent the last few months completely secluded in a studio apartment in japan, working on his sophomore album nonstop, but the second he'd read about what shawn had done, he dropped everything and got on the next flight to la.

ariana sobbed in harry's arms for a few minutes and he just held her tight, whispering comforting words every now and then.

"i ruined your shirt, i'm sorry." harry chuckled while moving her hair out of the way. he tried not to get distracted by her beauty, but it was very hard.

"do you wanna talk about it?" ariana thought about it for few seconds and she nodded, sighing.

"i just... i know i can't be mad, i mean, i kissed you when i was with him. i'd be a hypocrite, but i hate that he cheated. i hate it so fucking much." ariana talked slowly, trying to organize her thoughts and keep herself from breaking down again.

"that wasn't your fault. i was selfish and i wanted you to be with me. you shouldn't feel guilty about that." harry hated himself for doing that to her and for being a shitty friend. he knew he'd fucked up.

"i just don't get it. we were fine, everything was fine. it's so fucking unfair. i can't believe i was dumb enough to do this again." ariana covered her face in embarrassment and harry gently removed her hands and lifted her head so she'd look him in the eyes.

"you didn't do anything. none of this is your fault, ariana. if he can't see how lucky he is, then that's on him. and yeah, maybe i sound cheesy, but i don't care. you're everything and more. he should know that."

ariana nodded repeatedly, letting harry's words sink in. she knew he was right and she knew what she had to do.

but of course, nothing ever goes to plan.

"shawn, what are you doing here?"
