Marin unlocked the bakery and shut the door before walking up the stairs, pretty happy at the fact that he got his gift and he felt like it was a nice one at that. The gold chain made no sound at all as he walked up thanks to the padded box. If not, Adrien probably could've guessed what it was immediately. The bedroom door to his parents room was ajar so that meant his dad was up. Marin walked further upstairs and saw that Adrien and his parents were all sitting on a dining room table. He happily waved at his dad as a gesture of saying good morning but his father caught him off guard with a,

"We need to talk." Marin paused, thinking of every bad thing he could have possibly done that week. He nodded and walked up the stairs into his bedroom where he saw Alya and Nino both wearing headphones and looking at the same phone. He put the package into one of the drawers in his desk before turning to his friends.

"What are you guys doing?" He asked. Alya took off one side of the phones,

"Your parents told us not to come downstairs, so we pirated a movie." Alya said grinning foxily.

"Yeah right, you're probably just using my Crunchyroll subscription." Marin muttered.

"That too." She chimed in before Marin opened the door and walked downstairs.

He went to the dining room and looked at them, staring for a moment before his dad broke the silence.

"So... We've come to a decision." Tom said in a rather odd tone,

"Yeah?" Marin asked, a bit worried by the voice his dad used.

"We would like to adopt Adrien, but you'll have to discuss it, and also with Mr. Agreste before any action can be taken." Sabine said in a somewhat meek tone.

Marin paused, this was a bit of a lot, he walked forward and pulled out a chair. He sat on the hard wood of the seat and tried to think over this for a moment, first Gabriel but now he also had to decide. It was hard to say the least. Biting his thumb thoughtfully, the prospect of not being able to legally marry Adrien scared him a bit.

"Mrs. Dupain-Cheng..." Adrien trailed off slowly, trying to find a way to tell her something. Marin just let the blond speak, listening to only bits and pieces as he entered though. He assumed that Adrien would be telling them that his father might refuse but when he heard a "huh?" his attention turned back to his parents.

"Wha?" Marin asked, confused. Whatever Adrien said didn't make it to Marin's brain.

"Is it true that you're dating?" Sabine asked in a straightforward way. Everything just stopped, he didn't know how to respond. Had Adrien really come out right now, and revealed their relationship right there?

The solid shirt he was wearing felt just a little bit tighter, he could swear that beads of sweat were forming above his temple, his fair skiing began to crease ever-so-slightly as he thought. The Adam's apple in his throat swelled and the bluebell eyes started to lose its clarity a bit.

"Yeah." Marin said in a near whisper, fear constricting a lot of his voice. His parents had always been the kind to accept gay relationships and support it, but now that it hit so close to home, he was scared.

"Mmmm..." Sabine simply said and Tom nodded his head a bit.

"We'll have to take a new approach." She said back. Marin looked at her stunned as to why she'd say that.

"What? Adrien says if you wanna get married we can't adopt him. Correct?" She confirmed. The noiret looked back onto the dining room table nodding. He assumed that his parents accepted their relationship, but he could never be completely sure.
