A knock at the door caught took Mike and Jeremy's attention from the TV. Mike was the first to his feet, leaving Jeremy on the sofa as he walked to the door. Jeremy quickly picked up the remote and turned off the TV. He got up just as Mike called his name, "Jeremy! It's for you!"
The former Nightguard felt confused. Who could be here for him? Couldn't be the kids, Saturday was two days away. And no one else came to mind at the moment. Which is why he was completely floored when he saw the purple-haired, blue jacket-wearing man ducking under the doorway. He stood up straight while greeting Mike, before turning to look at Jeremy. The man was a good head taller than the blonde, his open jacket revealing his green T-shirt.
Jeremy walked forward until he was standing in front of the man, looking up into his purple eyes as he spoke, "Gary? What are you doing here?"
"Oh, I just thought I'd stop by," the man smiled while putting his hands in his pockets, "And see if you were free to hang out."
"Wait, me?" Jeremy pointed at himself, his confusion only rising as Gary nodded at him. He held up his hands, waving them back and forth in a panic, "No, no, no! I'm-I-I have to get ready for the Session on Saturday and-"
Jeremy grunted as Mike suddenly appeared at his side and clapped him on the back. The taller man smiled while ruffling his friend's hair, "What my boy Jere means to say, is that he'd be happy to hang with you! Make yourself at home while he gets ready."
Gary tilted his head questioningly but shrugged and head towards the kitchen, "Alright then. Do you mind if I get something out of your fridge? I forgot to cook breakfast this morning."
"Knock yourself out!" Mike shouted after the man. He waited for him to be out of earshot before he let go of Jeremy.
The blond-haired man shook his head at his friend with annoyance, "What was that for? Why'd you lie to him?"
"Jere, no offense, but you need to get out of the house more," Mike crossed his arms while staring down at his friend, "You can't live your life indoors. It's not healthy. And, as cool as I am, you need some friends other than me to hang out with."
"I've got friends other than you!" Jeremy retorted.
"Ones that you didn't meet online and actually go out with."
"W-well it's not that easy for me," Jeremy looks down and starts rubbing his left arm with his right hand, "I'm not as out-going as you, Mike. It's tough for me to just...talk to people."
He placed his hands on Jeremy's shoulders and turned him towards the kitchen, where Gary was rummaging through their fridge. He leaned down next to Jeremy's ear, "And that's why I think you should go with Gary. He seems cool and it'll be a good chance to get out of the apartment."
"But...the game is two days away and-"
"Dude, didn't you tell me that the game doesn't need a lot of planning before a session?"
"Yeah..."
"Then there's no problem! Now go get ready, I'll hold him until you come out," Mike pushed Jeremy to the side while he walked into the kitchen. The younger man stumbled a bit before turning to look at his older friend. He hesitated for a moment, turning to look at the kitchen where Mike and Gary were drinking two cans of cola. Mike said something and the two started laughing, making Jeremy frown with hesitation. Yet, he still ran off to his room.
He had to get his good shirt on.
"Soooooo, what do you want to do?"
Jeremy resisted the urge to jump at Gary's question. He straightened the collar of his red and black long sleeve shirt before answering, "Oh, uh, I'm good with anything you suggest."
