[timeskip to later when both school and practice is over]

practice had just ended and everyone was gone.

well, except for hinata of course.

hinata ran up to him.

"hey kageyama! wanna walk home together??"

tobio nodded his head, and they started walking.

"so kageyama, why'd you disappear earlier today? during lunch?"

now, tobio was not about to tell him he ran off because he was (for some reason) jealous of suzuki. so he just used a simple excuse.

"i had to use the bathroom."

"for the entirety of lunch? huh. alright then."

and they both went silent.

tobio tried not to make any eye contact with hinata.

then, when hinata had zoned out, tobio took the time to take a close look at him.

he looked at every detail.

starting with his amber eyes. looking directly at them could leave anyone speechless. they were beautiful.

then his ginger, messy hair. (messy in a cute way though).

then lastly, his lips.

woah.

they looked so, soft. not chapped at all. just, smooth. they looked so..kissable.

wait a minute- he didn't just think that did he?

tobio's cheeks turned slightly pink, his heart started beating faster too.

was it- normal to think your best friend's lips are kissable? definitely not.

then he had remembered what suzuki had asked him earlier that day.

"are you like..gay or something? are you in love with hinata?"

no that can't be. he wasn't..gay was  he? no of course not- he just admires hinata as his teammate. definitely.

but to be fair, he couldn't really tell himself he wasn't gay.

he had never liked girls, or guys. he didn't have the time to think about that stuff. all he had cared about was volleyball.

but now, this beautiful monster; hinata shouyou, had him questioning everything.

little did he know, he had zoned out during his thinking while looking at him.

"kageyama, you're staring".

hinata had said.

"i..i am?"

"yeah. your cheeks are awfully pink too. are you alright?"

"um..yeah i'm fine."

"you sure?"

"i'm fine. don't worry about it."

he knew he wasn't "fine", he was questioning all these strange feelings about his best friend that were taking over him.

then back to silence they went.

they eventually parted ways to get home and waved goodbye to each other.

when he got home, he lied down on his bed and stared at the ceiling.

he started thinking about hinata again.

from his smile, to his hair, to his skin, to his eyes,

to his lips (which he had thought were kissable).

his thoughts were interrupted as his mother called him down for dinner.

as he ate, he only thought of hinata.

as he brushed his teeth, he only thought of hinata.

literally as he did anything, the only thing on his mind was hinata.

as he lied down in bed he then remembered..oh yeah. suzuki.

honestly he wouldn't be shocked if hinata had liked her back. she was really pretty. her blue eyes, her brown hair, her popularity, so many people adored her. she was almost perfect and it pissed tobio off.

then there was tobio;

deep down he was a loner. although some girls found him hot, he didn't really gain anything from that. nobody wanted to be his true friend. not to mention most people found him more intimidating than they did pretty.

the way everyone thought he was scary made him insecure. the way he'd feel eyes pierce through his skull, with the scared faces that came along with the staring. he just wanted to them to at least talk to him.

everyone except for hinata. hinata didn't find him scary. because hinata knows who he is deep down. hinata actually cared about him. and spoke to him all the time. he liked how hinata was always there for him. which is why they were best friends. and..best friends only.

his heart raced for some odd reason as he thought about him.

suzuki's question then started ringing in his head for the rest of the night, until he fell asleep.
