Grabbing his backpack off the chair in his room, Sallyface made his way into the living room, giving his dad a quick wave before leaving the apartment. He felt his heartbeat begin to quicken as he was expecting to see you standing in the hall, waiting for him like you usually did every morning before school, but instead, he was greeted by nothing but air. You weren't standing by your apartment door with a big ol' smile, which was his favorite thing to see in the morning, there was an empty spot where you normally would be.

"Y/N?", he confusedly asked, glancing up and down the hall, "Where is she? She said she was coming to school today, right? I mean, I didn't see her all day yesterday because I figured she was still sleeping her cold off, but maybe she still isn't feeling good...?", he wondered to himself as he gave your door a firm knock, hoping you'd pop your head out saying you were just running a bit late or something. But nothing, no answer. Bummed out, Sal waited for a couple more minutes before hesitantly approaching the elevator, pressing the first floor button and glancing back at your door one last time before walking into the elevator, mechanical doors shutting and beginning the descent downstairs.

Exiting Addison Apartments, a cold breeze hit his face as he looked up to see the typical Nockfell weather, overcast, and when his eyes squinted slightly to look upon Larry's car in the distance, he was surprised as to what he saw. You, sitting shotgun besides Larry, instead of the backseat. An uneasy feeling was present within his stomach as he made his way over towards the car, Larry starting the engine as he glanced over towards you, also wondering why you had chosen to sit in the front today, "Hey, Y/N, Sal's coming. Buckle up!", he told you, ruffling your hair.

Shifting your gaze from out the window towards the blue haired boy approaching the car, you felt knots begin to form within your chest as you reached for the seatbelt, "O-oh yeah, seat belt, almost forgot.", you replied, buckling it into place as you looked over towards Larry, giving him a weak smile. That smile couldn't hide the fact that something was bothering you, Larry could see right through it, he just had a knack for being able to detect bullshit. "Hey, Y/N?", he asked, watching Sallyface come closer to the car, "Yeah?", you replied back, looking down at your hands as you rubbed them together for warmth. Shifting in his seat, he placed a hand on your shoulder, "I'm not trying to pry or anything, but, you wanna tell me the reason you're sitting up here instead of in the back? I can tell, something's up with you. Did something-", he stopped mid-sentence as the back door opened, Sal hopping into the backseat.

"H-hey guys, sorry, I uh, was looking for Y/N. I didn't know she was already here..." he explained. Hearing him say he was looking for you made your heart skip a beat, but you pushed that feeling away, "S-sorry, I came outside early to look at the sunrise. I was outside even before Larry came out, and Larry, I'm alright. Don't worry about it, really!", you assured him. You were being honest about coming outside earlier than usual, but it wasn't to watch the sunrise, you just couldn't bare to face Sal by yourself. Not now anyways, the shock of having seen him confess his feelings to someone else the day after the two of you had shared your first kiss, it was too much. You thought something wonderful was going to come of it, but clearly not. It was all still just so raw.

Your usually cheerful, sweet smile was instead replaced by a weak, clearly strained smile, but you looked lovely as usual nonetheless. Just a twinge of sadness being present within your aura. Once the car started down the usual road towards the school, Sallyface began to question what the two of his friends were talking about before he had gotten into the car. "What? Was Larry asking her if she was okay? Is she not okay? She does seem a little...off. Not only did she not sit in the back with me, but she's not saying anything at all. She's just staring out the window, no smile, nothing. Is she upset with me for not talking to her about what happened? I-I mean, I didn't bother her yesterday or the day before because I wanted her to rest, b-but maybe I should've at least used the walkie talkie. God, Sallyface, way to go, dumb ass.", he silently thought to himself, placing a hand upon the forehead of his prosthetic.
