It's the weekend, and Ava has invited me to her house. We only live up the road from each other, so I walk over there. I'm pretty nervous as I'm quite awkward when it's just one to one. Also, I thought I'd mention that I get Thursday and Friday off college every week . After a few minutes, I reach her house. It's just as small as mine. I walk up to the house and knock on the door. Suddenly, I hear barking and I jump slightly. A few seconds pass, and the door swings open. Ava is standing there, holding her Rottweiler back. I'm scared of Rottweiler's for some reason, especially this one as it's barking.
"Sorry. Henry is friendly, he's just excited. Do come in" Ava tells me, allowing me in. She pushes her dog into the kitchen and closes the door behind her. I stand awkwardly in the hallway, scanning the area. It smells slightly and it's quite messy. I'm not here to judge, but that's just what I can see. Ava takes me upstairs and we enter her very gothic room. She has posters all over her wall and LED strip lights on the rim of her walls. Her room is messy with empty pizza boxes on the floor and just clothes in general. "Excuse the mess, my boyfriend was here last night. We had pizza" Ava lets me know as she picks up the pizza boxes and just leaves them on the floor outside her room. I spot a few Arctic Monkey's posters.
"So, I'm guessing you like Artic Monkeys?" I ask, jokily.
"How did you know?" She joins in on the joke and we share a laugh.
"They're a pretty good band."
"Yeah, Alex is daddy" she says, causing me to laugh. "Take a seat."
I look at her unmade bed and sit on it with my back against the headboard. She lands next to me and asks, "Want to listen to a song?"
"Sure" I reply, and she jumps up. She places a record onto her vintage record player and the song 'Why'd You Only Call Me When You're High?' comes on. She demands me to dance with her. It takes a bit of persuasion, but I begin to shimmy with her. To be honest, it's a lot of fun. After the song ends, we sit on the floor.
"So, who are you friends with in the class?" I question, to start a conversation.
"No one" she tells me. She laughs and I awkwardly laugh too.
"How come? You seem pretty cool to me."
"Thanks. It's because I was friends with Adam."
"Adam?"
"Yeah. People didn't like that."
"Why not? He doesn't seem that bad."
"At first...Yeah. But, he's not good news."
"Why?"
"Well, when I say we we're friends, it was only for a month. I didn't really get to know him that much, but what I gathered was that he's very sneaky and dangerous."
"Oh... we're you friends with everyone before?"
"Yeah. Catelyn and I used to meet all the time. She fancied Adam. Adam rejected her, obviously."
"Obviously? Why is that obvious?"
"Well, they're nothing alike. And also, she's scared of him."
"Really? Wow. I remember you saying that he hasn't dated anyone, why is that?"
"Um... I don't know. Well, he doesn't... really get close enough to date people...I guess."
"Would he date someone? Not saying I would, but would he?"
Ava laughs "Amber, he's not worth it. Like seriously. Don't waste your time, please."
"So, his parents killed people then?"
Ava stares at me and sighs "Yeah."
"When?"
"This really isn't my place to say- "
I interrupt her, "I thought it was a famous case though?"
"Well yeah. But I just feel... weird talking about it."
"Please."
Ava sighs, heavily. She looks at my curious face and says, "Fine! It was last summer, before we met him. All summer they killed kids, one by one. They'd go to the park near the college, and kids would be adventurous and find themselves in the forest. His parents, Polly and Richard, would abduct them and take them to their mansion. They killed them in ways I wouldn't like to speak of. If you're so invested, then search it up. The Prescott Case. It'll tell you everything."
I sit there in shock listening to her explain. I can't believe that all happened "Wow, that's horrible."
"I know, he still lives there. Alone, I suppose."
"He still lives where the kids were killed?" I question, shocked.
"Yeah. He told me that one child was killed in his room."
"What the fuck!"
"I recon that's why he's so weird. He sleeps in a room where an innocent child was killed."
"That's sick. How could he sleep properly?"
"He has a bad heart."
"It's a shame that he's so strange because he's so attractive."
"Yeah. He also hates sex."
"What?"
"Yeah, he told me that he'd rather stab himself in the eye a hundred times than have sex."
"Is he even human?"
"At this point, no."
"I'm a virgin, but even I want to have sex. Like more than anything."
Ava sniggers "I'm not a virgin, and I crave sex more than I crave anything."
We share a laugh "Yeah, I'm not attracted to him anymore. How can you not want sex?"
"I love how that made you not like him; all the killing shit is fine then?"
We laugh again. It's nice hanging around with Ava. She's easy to talk to.
