This takes place about a week after the previous chapter. Alex left the hospital and now it is Sunday. The hospital scene was on Monday, the first day of school.
:Alex:
The day was new and so was my mind. Not a single thought was running through my head as I left my house to go for a walk. It might've been 6:00 am but I didn't think anything of it. I've done this many a time but today, I felt like I needed to go out.It was still dark out, but the sun was rising. The red, orange, and yellow came together to create the perfect morning medley, smeared across the sky, making the sun look perfect. The trees were varied and skewed but always had light on them, causing them to radiate beauty. The few chirping birds gave me the feeling of home back in the Nevis. The scene looked exactly like a Bob Ross painting, and I didn't want it to end. I basked in the beauty, taking in every detail, perfect or imperfect.
I looked down at my phone and saw a new notification. It can wait. I turned my gaze back up and saw a man holding hands with another man, and it made me think of my own desire for love, whether it be for a man or a woman.
Maybe this was the moment my mind was telling me that I had to see.Almost as soon as I had finished that thought, a motorcycle and it's driver, a man clad in black leather and Dr. Martens, came zooming by, the only recognizable feature being the magenta hue that trailed behind it. Almost immediately after, a black SUV followed, a middle aged father behind the wheel.
The car chase went on for a little while longer before the SUV came speeding back by me, going the opposite direction from which it came.
Hmm He must've given up. There's no way he was going to catch Jefferson, not on that bike at least.
I was interrupted by another ping on my phone, this time being a text from Uncle Jim.
UJ: Son, come home now please. I have breakfast and coffee made and awaiting your arrival.
Me: Yessir. I'll be back before you can say a quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog!
As I walked home, I decided that it would be a good time to check the other notification. It was also a text, but it didn't say from who.
???: Goodmorning Sunshine! How has your day been?
Me: first off, how did you know I was awake? Second, my day is lovely so far. Saw some cute couple and a slight illegal car chase. Third, who the fuck is this?
???: Ah, calm down feisty one. I saw you sitting on the bench outside. I'm glad your day is going well. And I'm afraid that I cannot tell you who I am.
Me: Well isn't this the most cliche thing I've heard. A random number texts me, claiming to have seen me, but can't tell me who they are. Wow. Anyways I have to go. My uncle is waiting for my arrival and so is my mountain of homework.
???: Oh, ok Darlin. Do what you must just know that I'm here for you. If you ever need anything or someone to rant to, just know that I'm here.
Me: yeah yeah ok. Peace!
And with that I turned off my phone and opened the door to my house. I noticed my uncle passed out on the couch. I assume he's been up for a while so I don't think much of it.
As I walked up the stairs, my mind was racing with questions. Why was there a mini car chase involving Thumb-us Jeffer-shit and some middle aged dad? Who texted me? How did they get my number?
Just as I pulled out my laptop, Uncle Jim knocked on my door.
"Come on in, Uncle!"
"Oh Alex! I'm so sorry I didn't wake up when you got back home. I have been tired with work because it's been keeping me up all night long."
"Oh it's fine! I didn't want to disturb your peaceful sleep!"
He turned on his heel, before turning back around to face me. "Oh yeah, I brought your breakfast up here because I saw that you hadn't eaten it yet."
"Thank you, Uncle! I completely forgot about it in the midst of my morning crisis!" And with that, he left my room completely, after handing me my breakfast.
I sorted through my homework pile that I had named Mountain Due. I put it in piles based on subject and due date, most of them being due in months.
—————time skip 6 hours later—————
With most of my work done, I laid down on my bed, exhausted from work and non compliant teachers who wouldn't let me turn in work early. I finally snatched my phone from its resting place on my nightstand, only to be greeted with millions of texts from my friends. Some asking if I was ok, others asking if I wanted to go to dinner with them, most of them being that.
I slowly made my way to the door only to find a little note that I had missed being slipped under the crack and landing on the hardwood floors. I bent down to pick it up and stood back up after finding that it was from my Uncle.
Dear son,
I am in deepest regards to have to tell you this in a note instead of face to face. I didn't want to interrupt your studies because I felt like that would be a hindrance to your overall outcome. But to keep this short and simple, I have to go on a short business trip but I should be back by tomorrow night. No parties please but if you do happen to have friends over, please clean up after yourselves. I love you to the stars and beyond!
-UJI flipped the note over only to see a small wad of cash that amounted to $100 taped to the back. I love that man but damn he can be a bit excessive sometimes...
I texted the group chat really quick and let them know that I was available for dinner. I quickly got a shower, shaved, and put on a fresh set of clothes before grabbing the keys to my car and setting off.
