Two weeks.
The two weeks are finally up and it was time to start the process of adopting them. Namjoon and I had a long conversation about it and made our final decision to adopt them.
We went down to the adoption center to get more information about adoption and how it works. Everything was going good, until the lady that was helping us said...
"In order to adopt them, their mother has to basically give up her rights as a parent." She said.
The smile that I once had on my face, dropped very quickly.
"But...we don't know who she is or where she is, she just dropped them on our doorstep and left this letter." I said, pulling out the letter from my pocket and putting it in her desk.
She took the letter and read it, then looked at us. "She wrote this?" She asked us.
We both nodded.
She nodded as well. "Let me make a copy of this, I'll be right back." She said before getting up from her desk and letting her office.
I looked down at Jungkook, who was happily but messily eating a blue raspberry lollipop, his lips almost completely blue.
"I should've known that we would have to basically have that witch's permission to adopt her children." I said, looking at Namjoon. "We don't even know her name or what she looks like." I added.
"We'll figure it out, baby, I promise. We'll do everything we can to adopt them, even if it takes forever." He said, rubbing my back.
I nodded, knowing he was right. These boys deserve a place where they can stay and grow up, instead of being passed around from home to home, and for as long as I live, I won't give up on trying to adopt them.
After awhile, the lady come back and sat down, looking at us.
"I've looked up the names of these boys and sure enough, they have been in and out of orphanages and taken to other people's houses since the oldest one, Yoongi, was a baby. The last time their mother took them back, she was clean from whatever her drug of choice she was at the time, but she has a habit of staying clean for a few months and then going back to doing drugs." She explained, then showed us the coped version of the letter. "Even though this could be enough to show the judge that their mother has giving up her rights, she still has to sign the papers to legally give up her rights as a parent." She added.
"But we still don't know her name or where to find her." I said.
The lady took a sticky note and wrote something down. "I'm really not suppose to do this, but from what I've read in their profile, these boys have been through a lot and I can see that you really care about these boys." She said to us before folding up the paper and giving it to me. "Don't open it until you leave here, give me a call when you find their mother." She said before giving us her business card.
I nodded and looked over at Namjoon, standing up and adjusting Jungkook onto my hip. I thanked the lady and then made my way out of the adoption center and towards the car. I put Jungkook in his car seat, got in the passenger seat, putting my seatbelt on before carefully opening the piece of paper.
